Registration will begin around the opening of the arcade.
New players event starts at around 11 AM
Lower will be starting at Noon sharp, and Upper will begin after the first round of lower is complete to give our better players a little wiggle room for travel.
Entry fees:
New Players event $5
Upper $15
Lower $15
Challenge $5
Great Attack $5
Speed play $5
Discounts for multiple event entry to be determined later.
The General plan so far is as follows:
On the Extreme Machine for the bulk of the day we will be having a Perfect Attack Event.
Later in the day we will be having a Challenge/Variety Event, based around novel ways to play and obstacles, will take place. If things go smoothly this shouldn't be any problem time wise.
If we have time a Great Attack Event will be going on.
On the Supernova machine we will be having an Event for people not familiar with the game or good at it. We're talking those who have never seen a AAA before let alone received one. This is hopefully going to spark interest and gain us new members.
Once the newer players are finished, assuming we don't get some insane number of them we'll either move into a speed play quick event just for fun or just have freeplay.
After the new players event has passed, the remaining prizes will be given away by raffle. You will get one raffle ticket upon entry, and more will be available to purchase if you so desire.
Rules for each event:
Perfect Attack Event
There will be two divisions, Upper and Lower. There are no restrictions on which you may enter, but you can only enter one of the two. As a way to discourage sandbaggers from entering below their level the main prize pool cash for the two will be divided 80/20 with the 80 going to upper, and the 20 going to lower. It is impossible to stop everyone who sees fit to cheat, but it is fairly easy to make it not worth it.
Upper
Double Elimination unless over 64 people enter, if this happens single elimination will be in effect for as long as needed to bring the event back into schedule.
The Brackets will be randomly seeded.
The higher seed will choose first pad choice.
Each Match will determined by overall score over 3 songs until finals when it will be extended to 5 songs.
Overall score will be set by an equation of 2(Perfects+OK) + Greats
The way song picks is a new Card Draw format
Each player will be given an index card where they will write down 4 songs they want to play totaling equal or less than 35
Each round their opponent will pick their song for the round off the card of the other person and cross it off.
The third song will be picked using a computerized card draw program and will be 7-10 unless both players request it to be 8-10 or 9-10
After 3 rounds the card will be discarded and new ones made until semi-finals are reached and the song selection becomes the more normal pick, pick, random format, and finals will be 2 picks and 3 randoms using the same rules for random used above. You may not re-use songs
including the song that was not picked on your card.
Modifiers Allowed:
All speeds
Boost
Fade mods (Hidden, Sudden, Stealth)
All note skins, except both players must agree on Solo for it to be used
Turn mods if both players agree
Bar use is allowed
Pad misses, pad boos, pad goods, and/or pad dropped freezes will be dealt with on a case by case basis but will generally just be dealt with as a normal miss unless it is extremely obvious to the contrary.
Cash breakdown is unknown at this time, but First place will be getting at least $500 no matter how many entrants are had!
IMPORTANT NOTE: There is a small chance the Extreme may be upgraded to DDR X before this event, if this happens we will make note of it, and the song pick rules will become the standard each player picks and then a random, overall machine score between 3 songs being the winner.
Lower
Double Elimination unless over 64 people enter, if this happens single elimination will be in effect for as long as needed to bring the event back into schedule.
The Brackets will be randomly seeded.
The higher seed will choose first pad choice.
Each Match will determined by overall score over 2 song until semifinals when it becomes 3.
Overall score will be set by an equation of 2(Perfects+OK) + Greats
The only songs being used in this event are 1-9 foot rating songs (Sakura heavy will be used as a 9 due to its being re-rated in later mixes)
Songs will be picked using a computer card draw program until the semi-finals
The way the card draw will work is 4 songs will be picked before your match, and each player chooses to eliminate one of them from the selection.
For the semi-finals and finals each player will pick a song, then the card draw program will be used to draw 3 songs and each player will once again eliminate 1.
In the case of a tie at any level a single song will be drawn from the card draw program until the tie is broken. During finals the players will have the right to request this be 7-9 foot songs only.
Modifiers Allowed:
All speeds
Boost
Fade mods (Hidden, Sudden, Stealth)
All note skins, except both players must agree on Solo for it to be used
Turn mods if both players agree
Bar use is allowed
Pad misses, pad boos, pad goods, and/or pad dropped freezes will be dealt with on a case by case basis but will generally just be dealt with as a normal miss unless it is extremely obvious to the contrary.
Challenge/Variety Event
This is a little harder to describe since the variety challenges in question will not be known to anyone save myself and a select few who helped me come up with ideas. Rest assured that the people who helped brainstorm have no idea what order these will take place in, and they'll have to contend with a few changes to their ideas anyway. Well anyway, lets get some of it out of the way shall we?
Gauntlet style. Depending on time and number of entries I may eliminate over half the entrants or just the bottom 1 or 2 each round. This may vary wildly, so no complaints if you get eliminated while still in the top half.
This event will pair you up randomly with another entry to form a team. As a team you will be forced to play in some sort of unorthodox way. I'll list a few challenges we have done in the past to give you an idea what kind of thing you and your random partner will have to face.
The Pedometer Challenge:
In this event players were forced to play a song and their grade at the end was 2(Perfects+ok) + Greats + Number on the Pedometer. For those who don't know, a pedometer is a little piece of electronics that you attach to your hip generally and it clicks for every step you take. I allowed players to clip theirs wherever they wanted aside from their hands/arms, and their teammates were standing by to reattach it if it should fall off (which many DID). The person with the top score would be the one who averaged the best PA on the song while still managing to add extra steps, or shaking to click the pedometer as fast as possible
Two by Four:
An old standby where two players work together on one pad both hitting two arrows where the winners were determined by the normal 2(Perfects+Oks)+Greats
These two events are not likely to show up this time since we've done them in the past, but you get the idea.
Great Attack Event
Gauntlet style
New players rules
Single Elimination
The Brackets will be randomly seeded.
The higher seed will choose first pad choice of first song pick.
Each Match will determined by song wins over 3 songs.
Score on each song will be set by an equation of 2(Perfects+OK) + Greats
This event is only for new players, home version players, and otherwise inexperienced players. If you have AAAs, or can pass any 10, you're a little bit much for this bracket. If you have the skills to AAA, try entering our lower division for a shot at a cash prize!
Songs will be picked by each player, with the random being decided by the person in charge of the event to determine a third. Any difficulty level (Beginner, Basic, Difficult, Expert, Challenge) can be selected as long as the foot rating is 7 or below.
In the case of a tie at any level a single song will be decided by the person in charge as appropriate for the skill level of the players. The players may request easier or harder if they both agree to abide by it.
The winner of the new player division will get to pick 2 of following items as their prize:
Guitar Hero 2 (360)
Guitar Hero 3 (360)
Guitar Hero Guitar (360)
Beatmania US with controller (Ps2)
Beatmania US controller only, no game (Ps2)
DDR soft pads (PS2) (3 of them)
Second place will be allowed to pick 1 of the remaining items as their prize.
All remaining prizes will be placed into the raffle pool of prizes.
Speed Play Event
Single Elimination
Each round will only be one song until finals
The song will be selected using the random button for most of the event. Finals will be a set determined by those in charge with locked in mods for both players.
The only part of score that matters is perfects, higher perfects win
In the event of a tie, both players will be eliminated and the players they knocked out in the previous round will return
The prize will be some sort of non-cash prize, this event is obviously not the most serious of affairs.

Fort Rapids 3 Fort Rapids Indoor Water Park

Columbus, OH 43232
Google Maps
Registration begins on Saturday and will continue until Sunday morning around 11:30--Fort Rapids is about 5 minutes from MME, so there will be time to shuttle back and forth between matches.
In The Groove 2 tournament (run on a native r11, now r23 dedicated cabinet by Nick Simpson/tgcid9999 and Caleb Lee/Kalek):
-$15 entry fee -- $5 goes to Shaffer, $10 gets put in the pot
-Single division -- no separating tiers of expert like past tournaments
-Best 2/3 songs (pick, pick, random)
-THERE WILL BE A PACK; THERE WILL BE A LINK UP BY NEXT WEEKEND! Also, Rebirth will be available
-Single elimination first round if there are more than 32 entrants; otherwise double elimination
-There will be a qualifier to determine seeding which will be done on Saturday during the DDR tournament (Fort Rapids is seriously 5 minutes from Magic Mountain so people can be shuttled over to qualify)
-The percentage on the screen will be used to determine score; no crazy formulas or anything
-There will be three neutral judges watching the pads at all times to see what needs to be recalced and what doesn't -- if a majority of the judges say whatever NCs are pad, it'll get recalced.
-The ITG3 theme will be used with speed mods at .5 intervals from 1x to 10x
-All mods that do not change the chart or DQ score are fine to use. Turn mods are only to be used with the other player's consent.
-No song difficulty restrictions
-The high seed will have the choice of picking pad or who picks the song first, then the low seed will for the second song. Random for third song and coin flip for pad if it's that much of a problem.
More information for both tournaments is available at
