Announcing The "Nuttin' Fancy" In The Groove Tournament, sponsored by RedOctane, and presented by Pi-Con I, a new sci-fi and gaming convention premiering this year in Western Massachusetts.
WHEN: August 12th. Qualifier begins at 10:30am, and the event continues on roughly until 1 or 2pm.
WHERE:
Pi-Con , located at
The Best Western Sovereign hotel and conference center in West Springfield, MA.
1080 Riverdale St
West Springfield, MA
COST: Entry into the tournament is part of your Pi-Con membership. For those who *only* want to participate in the Tournament, and nothing else, there will be a $10 fee collected to help defray expenses. But with an at-the-door day pass costing $30 for Saturday, and events going on all day, why not buy in to the convention as well?
Keep in mind, those who are registered for the convention are given preference for entry above non-registratants. Those who are already pre-registered can contact us at
picondance@gmail.com and reserve their tournament slot in advance.
WHAT: In The Groove 1, on Playstation 2, with two RedOctane Afterburner metal pads. Qualifier/Bracket Tourney. Up to 32 people may enter. The best half of those continue on to the main tournament itself, single elimination. All on HARD level, speed multiplier set at 1.5, with all other settings at default (that's why we call it "NUTTIN' FANCY"). We WILL be playing on an LCD projector.
Qualifier song will be posted Friday evening, and qualification will consist of only this one song. Each round of the tournament itself will consist of head-to-head on a single song at HARD level, selected at random, with seeded match-ups based on qualifier ranking. The player with the highest percentage score at the end wins the match-up.
Before the best two go head-to-head to determine the overall winner, the second-best two will face off to determine who wins third place.
EXTRAS: We'll be playing around on Friday night for fun, for those who might want to brush up, or newcomers who might want to get a introductory feel for the game. We%u2019re also going to be doing a little "for fun play" with Guitar Heroes, another excellent RedOctane product.
