Entry fee will be $10. Prizes include cash and Pump It Up merchandise, as well as an opportunity for receiving a By in the upcoming WPF 2006 USA Tournament.

There will be a freeplay practice session beginning at 10:00 AM for competitors only.

The tournament will begin at 12:00 PM.

Also, I'm all but positive that we will be having a Freestyle tournament, because it wouldn't be a PIU competition without one.

South Florida : Pump It Up Zero Tournament

Rules / Information

The tournament will have two divisions: Hard and Crazy.
(A freestyle division may be added if popularity demands.)
Each will be single elimination.

Entry Fee

$10


Rules

Modifiers and bar are allowed in all rounds of competition.
The highest qualifiers / winners will be determined by score.


First Round

Each tournament will be begin with the players competiting on a Level 6-7 (Hard) or a Level 13 (Crazy)
qualifying song, which will be randomly determined the day of the tournament.

Hard Qualifiers:
Love Is A Danger Zone 2 (Normal), Moonlight (Hard), What's Going On (Crazy), Mr. Firefighter (Hard),
Do It Yourself (Hard), Jump (Hard), Papa Gonzales (Hard).

Crazy Qualifiers:
Chung Hwa Ban Jeom (Crazy), My Friend (Crazy), Mr. Firefighter (Crazy), Do It Yourself (Crazy),
I Love You Baby (Crazy), Hatred (Crazy), Love Is A Danger Zone 2 (Hard).


The highest qualifying players will then move on to:


Quarter-Finals

The Quarter-Final round will be determined using Remix Station, best two out of three.

Each player may choose a song, and the third song(if necessary) will be randomly determined.

The top players will then move onto:


Semi-Finals

The Semi-Finals will be determined using a Level 9+(for Hard) or a Level 15+(for Crazy) song.
Each player may select a song as long as it meets this requirement, and the third(if necessary) will be randomly determined.


Finals

The final round will be done with a Level 8+ Freestyle song(for Hard) and a Level 18+ Nightmare song(for Crazy).

The song will be the same for all players, and will be randomly determined.

I went through the songlist files, and determined in advance what the list of possible qualifiers for the final rounds will be. The Nightmares are all 18+, and the Freestyles are all 7-8.

As the special two-days-remaining bonus, here are the songs I'll be choosing from for the final round:

Freestylers will be judged on synchronization, originality, and style.

With that said, is the machine going to have Stage Break on or off? Not that it matters, it's just a tournament. What time will the tournament be? Who's shown interest so far?

So far Joe and Brian for sure. I'm hoping Neko could come down, but that's debatable. I'll try messaging him later.

I'd say almost every Offworld regular is down, and some of them are very good(way better than me). There's a guy there who I've never even seen before that can ace Canon-D and Dignity CZ.

Smidget might even be showing up, too.

Stage break is on for stages 3 and bonus, but I don't think it'll affect the competition(it'll probably be on Event, which I think is stage break off automatically).

The time is TBA. Probably sometime in the afternoon. I haven't worked out too many specifics yet, Offworld's confirmed the date, and that's enough to start spreading the word until I'm back from Gainesville.

I'll kick the rest of the preparations into high gear on the 5th-6th(which is when I come back).

The By depends on what Smidget tells me, but I hope that doesn't mean we have to play by Andamiro's rules...

While I was gone, the entry fee supposedly got decided: $10.00

Also, I'm mentally kicking around a few other ideas to keep things cool.

I might make some CD-Rs of Zero 'OSTs' to give out, track down some of those (newly) dirt cheap Exceed US bundles for prizes(they're like $25 bucks now, tops), and possibly a Home Version Competition(feedback welcome on that idea: Walkie Talkie Man + soft pads = death).

The New Times Street Team will be covering the tournament from 12:30 to 3:30 PM.

We'll be using 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM as freeplay practice sessions
for participants only.

The competition(Hard, most likely) will begin at 12:00.

Neko came close to putting us on the map last year, since he made it to the third-to-last round, but he moved away, so I guess he doesn't count. :P

Sorry to hear you won't be there, but I'll try to get plenty of images and videos to make it up to you. This won't be Florida's last tournament, either, I guarantee that.

The Andamiro prizes arrived today, and they are nice.

As a special last minute bonus, I added the songs we'll be using for the final double rounds. It'll be randomly selected from those lists.

I didn't go into the 9+ range for the Freestyle category(i.e. Bee, Beat of the War, Winter).

Nightmare, the sky's the limit.
