Marketplace Rating: 0 | About Reputation Yeah, its gone, and i know why. The reputation circlejerk was getting people to max rep bars too easily, so now keith has removed it, and i am unsure as to weather he will bring it back, but if he does, there will be a new way of going to get positive rep. So, token whores, this means no meaningless rep ten times a day for tokens. but mabey when the new system comes out (If there is one) you will get tokens again.
Anyway, what do you think about reputation coming back?

Marketplace Rating: 0 | I had a brief chat with Keith about it.
Not telling anything, but it wont come back until he finds a good use for it.
I personally am glad it's gone, but we all know it will be back.

Marketplace Rating: 3 | I actually removed it while Keith and I were discussing the infractions system. We just don't have any need for it now, and while it was cool to have the little green bars and everything, until we find an actual use for it it'll be disabled. We have alot of stuff in the works right now that's more important than the rep system, so I wouldn't expect it for a while.

This thought horrifies me.

Marketplace Rating: 3 | check the help forum, Keith started a thread about it. But to put it simply, it's a warning system, but it doesn't perm ban anyone for getting too many warning points. Only temp bans. And infractions are honestly not THAT easy to get, we're not out to screw everyone with it.
As for stuff we're working on, it's not a secret or anything, we're just polishing up areas of the site and adding features/functionality. The Artist/Song database that keith setup today are an example. There's still a good amount of work to be done to them before they're complete, but it's a good example. We also have some more interactive stuff in the planning stages right now, so expect that sometime down the line (sooner than later).

Reputation was forum wide, but FB was the only place people could actually organize it's distribution. I think that due to the irreverency of Reputation, if it comes back it should be restricted to FB, so that FB is the only place you can give it, and FB is the only place you can see it. I'm sure most people on the inside or outside of FB, or also on both sides, agree that what happen is FB stays in FB. But people gaining reputation in FB were effectively gaining reputation in the whole Bemanistyle forum.
Of course, the system itself might not even be designed to handle this sort of thing, restricting it to a single board, in which case it probably just shouldn't come back.

The point of reputation is to show that you're a poster who makes worthwhile posts or contributes something. The rep thread sort of circumvented that, in that people got rep in a short amount of time, however at first rep was being given to FB regulars and people who actually made contributions through posts to the various forums. It could easily happen again, even if it were restricted to FB, and I'd rather there be no rep than people being misrepresented.
The reason I mentioned closing the thread in FB was only due in part to you and the others. There were a lot of other posters who were getting a lot of rep that really didn't contribute anything to the board, or they repeatedly made terrible posts in/out of FB, ones that usually ended up locked. In any case, it's gone and that's a good thing for the time being.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | Yeah, it was either rep points or post counts. Since we didn't even get post counts at all (thanks to NVLM_Zk's shenanigans) we figured the next best thing was to get rep.
And yes, at first, it worked because we repped those who actually contributed and were active members of bemanistyle, most of which I wouldn't doubt would've eventually recieved the rep anyway.
Later on (a few months) randoms schomos walked in asking for rep, and thats largely when I quit giving rep and told others to stop giving me rep (partially because I had max and partially because there was no need to give rep to those who had been actively participating anyway).
It really didn't do anything however, as we all know and agree, but I enjoyed having my little green bar next to all of the bastards who abused the token system, including the ones like Edboy that I can't explain how he freakin got so much money.

In any case, it's gone and that's a good thing for the time being. | Realize to that my idea is somewhat tongue-in-cheek, and that I was actually trying to make a larger point. FB is an entirely different entity from the rest of the Bemanistyle forum, but everyone in the FB clique was boosting their reputation with the circlejerk thread, and reputation was a site wide feature. The point is that if something exists like reputation, there shouldn't be administrator sponsored threads that encourage the abuse of the system.
You say that originally people were getting rep because they made contributing posts in other parts of the FB board. If that is the case, the reputation should have been given to those posts, and not in the circlejerk thread. I just don't see why the thread was ever necessary.
Anyway, I for one am glad the system is gone for now. I entirely concur with you that it's a good thing.
