Quite agreed.

Anyway, he deserves it, judging on what he has done on Iraqi people for years.

The guy really doesn't deserve to get the death penalty. There are far worse crimes that he can commit. He should get a prison sentence and nothing more.

The deaths of 200,000 Kurds really isn't much when you think about it.

Comparatively, being hung is more painful than receiving a lethal injection (which is considered unjust punishment here in the states). Plus, it's a sentencing by a Baghdad court, not the U.S. Supremacy Court. I question the legitimacy of this info as well, even from a source such as BBC. It would make no difference; some guy could kill half of the population of the world and there would still be people saying that he shouldn't get the death penalty.

Agreed. There is always going to be some disagreement on any verdict on any trial. That's the whole point of courts, is it not? To settle things?

Asssasinated defense lawyers, three different judges presiding over the same case, first judge resigned because he complained the government was tampering with the trial too much, trial taking place in Iraq which rules out a fair and impartial hearing, etc. etc. Does any of that sound like a part of a fair a legitimate trial?

Keep in mind I'm not arguing his guilt. Only the cirumstances under which he was found guilty.

US media outlets are reporting as well, it's legit.

If we did it, the trial would seem more illegiatmate, if it was tried in Iraq. So it really was a lose-lose siutation unless it was tried in the UN courts or something like that.

don't celebrate just yet. there's a panel of judges who needs to confirm this. if it holds, Saddam will be hanged within 30 days after the decision.

Agreed. They just took far too long to get rid of this guy.

I wouldn't have been surprised if he was gotten rid of in the Gulf War.

Hey, I view this as a good thing. Here's hoping there is no violent outcry overseas as retaliation.
