I agree. I do think Saddam should be punish, but definitely not this way. The trial wasn't held in the US, it was held in a neutral country without any political ties to the iraqui conflict. The US tried to influence the court but from the looks of the trial end, it wasn't necessary. And whatever execution method they practice over there, is what is gonna be used.

Personally I'd want him to be either tied to two horses pointed in two different directions, or buried up to his molasses covered head in sand with a fire ant nest next to him.

Even so, that still means that American execution methods still wont apply to the verdict anyway. There's no reason to be pissed at america for something that they have no control over.

Even so, what would be "unfair" about it? He's fucking guilty as sin. What kind of legal defense do you have to "Uh... well I didn't mean to kill 5000 of my own people with gas?..." Our system gives us a "fair" trial, that doesn't mean a "perfect" trial.

In my opinion, the mere fact he wasn't shot on sight and was given a trial was more than enough "fairness".

It's called extradition, look it up. Even if it was an abduction, this happens all the time, we just don't hear about it.

Agreed. Saddam is an ordinary human being and an upstanding citizen. A man of his people. As such, he should be treated like one.

Quick question: Do you really believe in his innocence? And if not, do you really believe that, considering the circumstances, a fair trial is at all possible?

I'm actually a bit amazed that a trial even happened. It would have made more sense to just put a hole in his head when they found him, and we wouldn't have had to deal with all this trial crap at all. Same outcome, less bullshit.
