The only time it would be if suddenly the sun heated up, or we completely lost our ozone protection. At that point, all the water would start to boil out of oceans and carbonate rocks. Again, I'm using Venus as an example. I've been studing astronmeny to much tonight.

Only a small percentage of that is potable, is the thing. Desal takes a fair amount of energy.

This reminds me of last 9/11 when I went to San Francisco. my friends and I ran into this one dude in this homemade blue cloth trench-ish coat. He regaled us with his certainty that the world was gonna end in 2012 because of some supreme hoobideedoo.
