Won't comment on too much of this. Definitely could see there being all types of holes in this law, but whatever. Key notes:

-All hentai is pretty much going to be considered CP if they want it to be. Here is why: legally speaking, in animated pornography, it is impossible to accurately determine the age of depiction, and as such, if you get caught with it, expect to have a tooth and nail fight as they throw the book at you. I know, I've seen someone get in serious trouble for some 4 months ago for the very same reason. Let's just say, he did not win that fight.

-Most computer users are at best computer illiterate, and as such have no idea about how to detect such a thing if it's going on with their networks. I need only point you at the prolificness of botnets.

-Don't knock Ron Paul, he's totally awesome for the most part >.>.

The main problem is that there's no way you can detect what's being transferred over the Wireless connectionwithout using Magical hacker toolds no one knows of. if anything, you should know who's on your wireless at all times, and Check MAC Addresses to see who has been on it. It's all about Wireless security, which doesn't really exist in the real world.

I'm well aware, but somehow I think the bill was not intended for the rare occasion of "get the weird guy off my router what's he doing on there eww", but it seems like it was intended to make people monitor their network traffic, which as we've discussed is pretty much impossible.

I have no moral opposition to the bill, it's just something that's incredibly shortsighted. I can't see a single instance where "but seriously I didn't know what he was downloading" wouldn't be a proper defense against allegations incurred by this new law.

Firstly, as I previously stated, most hentai depicts characters with an age that cannot be accurately determined, if only due to the style of anime. Secondly, toddlercon is it's own little slice of fucked up, so we'll leave that one be (in case it isn't obvious, that'd be what you're referring to IBF).

Lastly, I am curious as to what basis by which you dub Ron Paul a shithead. While I know libertarianism has it's obvious faults, I do wish to know which of his espoused doctrines you take offense to (perhaps in PM where appropriate), if only because I seek to understand your position on the matter. Only being a mere student in uni and drudge in the corporate machine, I can't allow any unfounded conceit to blind me to the opinions of others (though I can use it to type longwinded rhetoric).
