Default How do you celebrate your country's National Day?

Yeah, like what all Singaporeans should know, tommorow is the National Day for Singapore.... But I started the celebrations anyway on the eve of it (that is today).... Let me tell you how I celebrated the National Day Eve....

Today morning, I still have school... But there is no studying done at all! My school decided to hold a charity bazaar, an art festival and a talent search competition all at once! The bazaar have lots of food... They taste great... But a tad too overpriced though.... I also got my hair dyed too(This is one of the few days whereby dyed hair is permitted)... Too bad I did not take a photo of it.... There are competitions like cake-decoration competition (The art class simply pwnt the competition) and stuff like that.... Then a concert is held... It consists of a dance of different styles from the different cultures of Singapore which is cool and other events....

At night(just now), my family went to The Esplanade to look at the fireworks together with many fellow Singaporeans... The fireworks are meant for celebrating the eve of the National Day anyway....

You want to know why I set this topic? Read on....

As I admire the beautiful fireworks, I start to think how other Singaporeans might celebrate the National Day... Then, as stupid as it sounds, I start to think about the diverse cultures of the world's countries... And of course, you guys at Bemanistyle.... I know that you all come from different countries/different parts of Singapore... Being curious(a trait of mine), I decided to set up a topic for all to dicuss on....

How do you celebrate your country's National Day?

Have fun discussing! =)

And you forget that not every country has a 'National Day' >_>

To stay on topic, I'll be sleeping it all off. Then probably wake up and watch some fireworks or something.

We spend money on explosives and set them off at night. Sometimes, if you are lucky, you can be cheap and find a park where they do a public show.

Oh, we like to eat a lot too...

May day is may 1, and (as far as i kno) has nothing to do with U.S.A.'s independence

Imo the 4th of July kind of lost it's meaning. It seems more like an excuse to drink heavily and blow up shit. And to eat hotdogs. But what do I care. Everything I just listed is fucking awesome!

Unless you consider socialism a major factor in the US's independence, I wouldn't say the two holidays are related at all.

I was never very partial to the original meaning of the 4th of July so I think that the change was a nice improvement.

I'm not one who cares much for National Holidays. I usually spend any holiday in my house, playing video games. ^^
