Default John Hughes died yesterday

He was 59 years old & died yesterday of a heart attack when he was in Manhatten. You might know him as the guy who wrote/directed/produced such great movies such as The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Home Alone, National Lampoon's Vacation, & Miracle on 34th Street, among others.

Sucks ANOTHER famous person died this year. Think next time I'm at my library, I'll rent a movie he worked on.

It's kinda sad that a thread wasn't made until the day after :|

I grew up on this guy's movies, and although he hadn't done anything memorable in years it's a very serious blow to the twenty-thirtysomethings who worship him.

I rented Ferris Bueller's Day Off from my library & will watch that. I can't believe he also did the live-action 101 Dalmatians & Home Alone.

I remember a few months ago in school in English, we watched The Breakfast Club & had to write a report on it.

Haha yeah I remember doing that in the beginning of freshman year. We all thought it was pointless to sit down and watch it in school because everyone had seen the movie hundreds of times. It was some stupid requirement for my school. I guess when the school board voted on it, they apparently never saw the irony of having an out of touch principal forcing high school kids to write an essay on a movie about an out of touch principal forcing high school kids to write an essay.

Most of us finished our essays during the showing of the movie, and most of them (including mine) ended up being the same essay that Brian wrote in the film, with minor differences. I got an F for it, as did all the other smart asses.

Well, we had to write our report based on cliques (i.e the emo, the jock, the nerd, etc). It was the 1st time I saw the movie & I really enjoyed it as did everyone else.

I need to see if I can find Sixteen Candles & Weird Science.

The Breakfast Club is probably my least favorite of his movies, actually disliked it a lot.

I really enjoyed some of his other movies, like Weird Science, Sixteen Candles, & Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and some of the movies he wrote like Vacation, European Vacation, and Pretty in Pink. Wasn't a fan of most of his other stuff, though.

Still sad that he died relatively young. So many "celebrity" status people have been dying lately of heart problems, it's strange.

The Home Alone series, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation and Dennis The Menace live-action were indeed some funny films and entertaining films indeed.

Anyhow, yeah he will be missed
