If you don't know who this man is, it's time to give up your guitar. Hell, you may as well turn in your plastic guitar simulacrum. He is perhaps the single most influential person in guitar-based music of the 20th century. Now I regret missing seeing him last year when I had the chance. Even at his age, he could perform as well as ever.

It's a shame that there are so many musicians, even professionals who don't know who this is. He and Leo Fender pretty much invented modern music. I sent a text message to a close friend who's been playing guitar for years to tell him that he died, and he thought Les Paul was just the name of a Gibson guitar
