Man, I used to live in south Korea. What the f*ck are these North Korean (insert racial word here) thinking, testing a nuclear bomb? Anyway, when I saw the news about this, I thought, "has Kim Jong It gone nuts?" I'm south Korean.

Edit: I actually think that The North Koreans are planning another war, like KOLD said, This is bad. Kim Jong Il has gone nuts just like in that Team america: World Police. (lol that was fun)

This is my opinion what the facts that I have seen. If this seems incomplete, then I apologize.

I think that it is a move in Kim-Jong Il's part to get attention to force the world community to end sanctions against his country. I also think it may be a way to get attention focused on him. He seems to be a leader that craves attention and wants to get it any possible way, so the nuclear tests could be a way to get that attention.

Which I think was overall a bad move on his part. NK's actions so far has led to the condemation of its actions by one of its closest allies (China) and a military buildup of its enemies (South Korea and Japan), as well as worldwide condemnation of the nuclear tests. At this point NK would think twice before launching an attack on South Korea and/or Japan, since retaliation would be quick.

I think some people see North Korea as a madman state. Being in China, we've met quite a few people who have fled from the DPRK. Kim Jong Il is extremely cunning, almost to a fault. Everything has been calculated and planned for. The DPRK would lose in any air-based conflict within the first few hours of the war. Their airforce is so out-classed to as to be unusable. However the state itself is like a fortress with tunnels going throughout the whole country where missiles and anti-aircraft can be stored. Much of their military is defensive in nature.
Having nuclear weapons in the DPRK is a move by KJI to isolate his country further from outside influence - which he's doing quite well. China cares little about the DPRK in terms of friendship - but it's a fine buffer for the Chinese between themselves and the USFK on the 38th parallel. My guess is within the next few decades the Kims will be out and the Chinese will install a pro-China leader.
Besides, is KJI stupid enough to launch a nuke when the Russians have thousands, in addition to the US and China? It would mean absolute destruction of his kingdom. Don't believe the hype.

News Flash!

Straight from the mouth of my socialist newspaper... North Korea's nuclear plan a possible hoax! Nuclear missile could have been an artificial earthquake conducted by U.S. espionats to refocus attention from the Foley case. You can find that just above the "celebration of gay rights festival lauded by thousands" section of the newspaper. So I really wouldn't consider that source to be very reliable. These same sources have the nerve to blame our President for the obtaining of nuclear missiles... Sure, to some degree, but not for all of it. It was all the actions of Presidents in the past, and China's position in the Korean War. (Right now they're condemning North Korea.) United Nations has approved of sanctions against the N.K.. I think that's all you'll hear of them. This story could very well fade out into the election year hype.

Until Christmas. Coming soon to a television near you: Non-stop broadcasting of radioactive holocaust in Seoul!

That would be a pretty safe bet, except if you win, there's going to be no one to pay you. But you won't be around to prove anyone that you won anyway. Damn.

Crap, I heard a prophecy that said that the world will end by 2010. I think I saw it in a bible or something. But if it's true, we're basically fucked.

Kim jong Il's a fag.

It could also end on 2012 (Mayan calendar), or 2007 (black hole). I wouldn't necessary rely on religious apocalypses... there are billions of religions out there after all and each have their own theory of apocalypse. Besides, if you waste all your time worrying about it... it comes faster than you think!
