Default Origami help

Hey, guys. I haven't really been active here in terms of posting, but I've been a part of this community for a long time, and it's really something. As the title of this thread suggests, I need your guys' help with some origami; I need to find some websites that offer instructions on how to make flowers using origami. The only sites I could find are ones that you have buy books.

The reason I need to find instructions for flowers is because the anniversary with my girlfriend is coming up (although it's not the yearly but a monthly but it's an excuse to do something) in about two weeks, and I'm planning on making a bouquet of origami flowers with a couple of real flowers mixed in, depending on which ones I make. If you can't find any instructions that includes making the stem, that's ok. I can work with just the flower.

Thanks a million guys!

And also, if I picked the wrong place to post this, move it as you see fit.

Be smart on Google. I typed in "origami flower instructions" and got 40,000 hits. The first several of which contain detailed instructions for what you're looking for.

I went through a ton of the results and finally found something.

Go to the bottom. The instructions are presumably in the .PDF file that opens when you click the flower(s).

Wow, I love these designs. My personal favorite flower to give as gifts is called the Kawasaki rose. There are some diagrams online, though they're difficult to follow. I was taught to make it by someone at a convention so I never used the diagrams. It's tough, but totally worth it. If this topic is still going in two days I'll try to post a picture of a rose I made.

This site is not only good for flowers, but for loads of other things, as well. My favorite one is this one because it's relatively easy to make and it looks great when done correctly. You need a sheet of green/*random flower color* paper if you want it to look good, though.

Wow, thanks for the help thus far. These have been awesome finds. I've made some basic stuff like a very simple house, a windmill, a hat, and a basic rose. I can't quite make a crane (there's this one step near the end that I simply can't figure out), and I'm still working on perfecting the various types of folds and bases. The "due date" for this project is coming up, but I think I'm making pretty good progress.

Since I saw these sites, I've decided to get back into origami, starting with the harder non-square based models. The only problem is that some of the diagrams aren't very easy to understand, and most don't even have diagrams at all. I'm thinking about starting an origami thread in the art forum where we might make some picture posts that teach each other how to make some of the harder models. There's a hexagon-based flower that is just stumping the hell out of me!

Diagram of the model

I'm also hoping to do some modular origami pieces; some of them are featured on the first link that was posted. I want to make a hanging lamp out of one of the models, but I'm not sure what kind of paper will be appropriate. The bulb I'm thinking of using is actually LED-based, but does that mean it won't generate a lot of heat?

That's actually a great idea; some of the diagrams are really hard to follow. I've also thought about when I get better at origami, I'd make small video clips that would actually show how to fold so there's less of a question about how it's done. Let me know when you get the thread started or if you've already started it.

And those hexagon-based flowers look incredible!
