Default Parallel Drivers for PSX... eh?

I have aquired a 25-pin parallel port adaptor that lets me plug in a Playstation controller to use on the PC... but how do I get it to work? I tryed download some ass program called NTPad and it didnt work at all, and it didnt even have a readme (it was like half chinese half mexican or something, I dunno). I need a brief walkthrough of what to get (the best), how to install it, and how to configure it.

Since you already tried NTpad try this one.

http://www.psxpad.com/index_e.php

Edit: Also hunt around for a driver called "DirectPad 5.0" or whatever the newest version is. I'm pretty sure the site is gone, but it might be around still.

I'd reccomend just getting a USB adaptor, but I assume you are trying to get past converter lag?. If not, USBs are's only around 10 dollars and the drivers should install automatically.

You're sure your adaptor is geting power to the controller though? The port isn't really designed to give devices power, and the adaptors usually account for that, but it seems to be a common problem. Some ports give 3.3 volts some 5 volts etc...

Trying now.
EDIT: AWESOME, it's responding! Now I have to configure it and such, then test it in a game.
EDIT2: Works in Flatout 2 perfectly. The analog sticks dont work though... any fix for that?
EDIT3: I tryed plugging in my Guitar Hero controller to test that and it thinks the controller is disconnected according the the Game Controllers window. What should I do about connecting more than one type of controller?

It ended up linking me to NTPad.

I had one but lost it at a con and now I have to try to get these parallel ones to work.

I can turn on the Analog light on my PS2 controller so I know its getting power.

Sorry, I don't have a parallel adaptor anymore. That was ages ago when I played with the ePSXe emulator on my badass Pentium 3 (oh yea) . I had various problems which can best be said as "The adaptor was a worthless peice of shit", and I tossed it. Bought a smartjoy plus from lik-sang and it works perfectly. I'd really just cough up the 10 bucks for one, but best of luck getting it work.

That driver might have been made back before dual shock controllers, but I really don't know.
