So, what's everyone's political standpoint? How will the candidates overcome the challenges ahead of them?

And while the state is pretty much going to wind up voting for Obama anyways, my particular district is a toss-up. MY VOTE ALMOST MATTERS IN A MINUSCULE WAY.
And yes, I know it's unlikely McCain will die in the next four years, but I'm having trouble believing he doesn't endorse Palin's opinions.
So as much as I don't think Obama's the best possible choice for president, I'm probably going to vote for him. Because at least he recognizes that Intelligent Design/Creationism is not a scientific theory, as does Biden.
Either way, we're probably fucked. It's just that as a physics major looking for a masters/PhD in astrophysics... I don't want to have to prove to someone that the world is not the center of the universe to receive funding.

I'm not going to vote but I would like whoever is more likely to drive the US economy into the dumps to become president, I can change my overseas money back to USD. My current estimates is that OBAMA is will do a better job at that.

America isn't exactly embracing science.
Anyways, yeah. I'm going for Obama, if only because I don't think McCain will do a whole lot to help economically, and with the nomination of Sarah Palin, he seems to be catering to the religious right.
(Also, ironically enough, were any of us actually English majors in that thread?)

It's not that unlikely that McCain will die in office, I think. He's 72 years old, and the average life expectancy of males in the US is 75.
I don't really know much about Obama though, outside of that he doesn't think homosexuals are evil. I'll be voting for him.

Sorry, but I don't want the guy in office who would ignore the advice of the Chiefs of Staff based on what is popular in America at the time. He's coming from the senate majority with the lowest recorded approval rating (because they can't get shit done), so where's all this "change" going to come from?
Keep in mind, Congress controls most of our economical decisions, so blaming the presidency for the failures of Congress isn't very smart.

Oh........sorry about that

Anyway
I'm not from America though but anyways I'll just give my viewpoint.
If ever, I'll be avoiding Sarah Palin. Nuff said.

That said, I'm rooting for Obama all the way. Palin reminds me of Clinton except in a different body and with a whole different slew of problems. Granted, Obama has problems too, but at least the man recognizes other facets of life besides the politics. (he accepts science, good enough for me) Too bad I can't vote : D. | |

Not that I'm saying "Don't worry, it's safe to vote McCain!," but that's not one of my worries.

Seriously. I've stopped really caring considering that I'm a mid-20's white male. No matter what office wins my demographic is royally fucked.
