There are arguments that he was actually born in Kenya.

Now excluding direct evidence (and understand that this is NOT in effort to convince you of anything), do you believe that if that was actually true the government would admit to that? Now that would create problems since them admitting to allowing a person to participate in a presidential election would be a direct violation with rules. However if they suddenly didn't allow him to continue with the election the consequences are quite obvious: rioting, etc.

You guys seem to have this idea that everything worth mention would be covered by the media, yet you've neglected to comment on the whole FR post.

Actually many people will believe things as long as evidence is being supplied. Edit: or at least believe the possibility.

Indeed it's possible, but if it were true it likely would have come out early in the campaign. Would the democrats have let such a thing slip through the vetting process? Were it expose, it was bye-bye election, and he wasn't always A+ #1 Presidential Candidate. At that time such a revelation wouldn't have caused much public unrest at all.

When did speculation about the location of Obama's birth first surface? Quick skims through Wikipedia don't give a great deal of information, but it seems that the website that was set up to combat that and other rumors went up 10 days after he won the primary, so they were likely circulating prior to him actually becoming an official presidential candidate.

As I said, it's possible. The US Government could pull a lot of shit if it wanted to. But unless there's some credible reason to believe that his Hawaiian birth certificate was faked it's so speculative that it's not worth worrying about.

EDIT: Whether or not "Any view that conflicts with the majority's perception is immediately classified as conspiracy theorist bullshit regardless of it's validity." is true, in this case we're talking about the government covering up Obama's true country of origin, which would be a conspiracy theory.

Also, if that theory is true, we'd have to assume that the Republicans in power are also involved in the cover up as well, or else they would have used this info against Obama by now. So was the McCain campaign only pretending to be vile by distorting some truths and making vicious attacks out of desperation all these weeks?
