my parents' combined pre-tax income is somewhere around 150K and they are like, 1 missed paycheck from filing bankruptcy at any time (lol debt)

they have rarely helped me financially

The only thing not bailing out companies (lol free market, psh) will do to me is prevent me from getting a REALLY GOOD HOME LOAN.

I live in fucking California, it's like 1.7M for a 1 bedroom shanty over here. I'm not gonna afford a house anyway.

Shit even the credit thing is laughable, considering that the car dealerships are losing business and need to get product out. That means giving out car loans at good deals still. There is nothing that will affect me by not doing the bailout and I'm cool with that.

My states minimum wage is over 3 bucks what yours is.

Also it's waaaaay easier to make money in a booming metropolitan society like the bay area, as opposed to bum-fuck nowhere in TX.

What about AIG? AIG is one of the largest providers of life insurance policies in America. Any working class family who has an AIG policy could be negatively affected if, say, the provider of the household were to die after they had lost their life insurance. Somebody could go from white collar to no collar, and pretty damn fast, if they lost their provider and didn't have the money to cover the funeral and their future as a single-parent household.

Whether or not it affects you is inconsequential, whereas it could easily effect millions of Americans if a company such as that were to go under. I personally think than any action which will protect millions of citizens of a nation is a valuable undertaking.

the car dealerships don't make the decision on credit, the banks do. it took me and my girlfriend like, 2 weeks of spending all our free time working with several dealerships trying to get a new or used car after hers got wrecked by our neighbor, and in the end the only reason we got any sort of a loan (even with me making 40K a year with minimal finances and under $3000 in outstanding student loans which are in good standing) was because my dad co-signed, and that loan was still at 15% AND required the salesman arguing with the bank for an hour

again, the opinion of "there is nothing that will directly affect me so fuck everyone else" is a very short-sighted viewpoint
