Would be nice so i can play IIDX, pop'n, and triggerheart excelica advanced on the same ps2 as all my US games with swap magic/multiple ps2's

It's definitely an Asian Version unit (similar to that of what Play-Asia is selling or was selling). This is the only version of the PS2 out there that officially is autovolt (although most likely it will come with a UK plug...........but of course you can buy adaptor thingies in your local hardware store). Interestingly, I guess this one, as you say, is already pre-modded.
As to regarding DVD region, our DVD region here in Asia is region 3. I guess the dude or whoever did the modifications only did so for games. Hence, if you want region free DVD playback as well, you'd have to bring this unit to a shop that does PS2 modifications or you'd have to do it yourself).
