Okay - I know I'm not a regular here. A lot of people are going to try and call this a scam, but I will make the attempt anyways. Here's the story:
My brother was convicted of several assault charges for defending himself and a friend from five people using a firearm. The jury ruled in "excessive force" because he unloaded his clip.
He exhausted most of his savings on legal debts. He has been able to acquire school and work release recently, but the workhouse to which he has been sentenced takes most of his money.
His debt is slightly more than $1,800. The problem is, he unknowingly "took too many credits" and now financial aid has sent him a bill.
The following link is one to my own personal web journal - it details my life. Normally I give this only to people I know so that they can keep up with what goes on, but I'm going to post a link to it here in a (hopeful) attempt to collect some money to help him.
I don't know what the mods will say about this thread. As I have said, a lot of people might think I'm just trying to cheat you out of your money. If that is the case, then don't donate I guess. If everyone here donated $2 (I ask for $2 because PayPal takes about 4% + $0.30 per donation) my brother would have more than enough to cover his debt. No one person will be set back very much, but I know it would mean the world to him to not have to worry about his debt once he gets out.
I'm going to put this in as many places as I can to help raise more money.
