I'm pretty sure with their attention span, everything will be forgotten in about 2 days.

I really think that's a little early to introduce the topic. I can't remember how my teacher was in Kindergarten, much less anything I "learned" in it. I think sex education is very important and should be taught in school, and it's one of the political issues that really bother me. It seems like some of the ultra-conservatives think that if sex education is not taught, that kids aren't going to figure it out.

I was taught (by a teacher with a group of classes) in 7th grade. I think either 6th or 7th would be good.

My class watched two videos, separated boys and girls although I heard the girls tape was much better because it actually showed intercourse and porn.

Oh, 5th grade.
Everyone's confused and looking at eachother funny afterwards.

It's a bad idea simply because there's not much that I would expect a kindergartener to understand about sex ed. Furthermore, sex ed starts at an age around/right before puberty where sex actually becomes an issue in a kid's life. While there may be some cases where children become sexually active before they receive any education in the subject, I think that 5th grade or so is perfect. Plus, think of the reaction when you tell kindergarteners they weren't delivered by a stork. It'd be like telling them the truth about Santa.

In my opinion, it's not the age that sex ed starts at, but rather how much schools are willing to tell. I think that teachers should be very liberal about sex ed. I just think that abstinence-only sex ed is way too shielding, and ends up causing more harm than good. So what if the extra knowledge about sex causes more kids to have sex? At least they're informed about what they're doing then.

yup, totally agreed
its a bit earlier, a 4-6 years old kind is not mature enought to understand, besides wrong information could cause conflicts..
on the other hand... what's the idea kids have about sex and stuff?, you ask a kid, where do babies come from? and its gonna answer something like.. uh, from paris! :3
so i think that's an issue that must be handled carefully, teaching kids step by step the whats and whys acording to their age.

I learned in a summer program from school between 5th and 6th grade. According to my mom, I came home and looked at her like she was a whore. :P

I believe I was taught at the appropriate time, even though I didn't quite understand it all, since it was pre-puberty, I don't think a kindergarten class would get it at all.

I suppose they'd teach it and send out any kid that laughs or giggles. I mean come on, I say 'willie' to my 6 year-old sister and she's in hysterics for twenty minutes. Kids just don't have the maturity required to learn this sort of thing.
