Default suggestions for a TV

So just recently, my dad's TV's tube went discolored. Since he still needed a TV in his room(for what reason I don't know), he has mine now, although I was planning to take it to college. However, since this has happened, my parents have been good enough to partially pay for a new TV for college.
That being said, if anyone can give me an idea of a good TV to get that's min. 20", absolute max 27" that's not more than $350, suggest here, please. Thanks.

Use this opportunity to upgrade your video card and/or monitor for your computer. You can get a video card that has a TV tuner. If you have Windows XP Media Edition, your computer can also act like a Tivo and record live TV (with no monthly subscription fees).

Not a bad idea at all, although it seems like I would be downgrading from my current videocard. It's a thought, though.

Well, if you already have a decent videocard, instead of replacing the videocard, you could add a second card that's dedicated to tuning TVs. Find one that has two coax inputs so that you can record one channel while watcing another channel, or record two channels at once. If your second card is also a "video card", newer Windows operating systems support dual monitors, so you could double your Windows desktop space at the same time.

Sony brand TVs are decent. I've had a CRT 32 inch for 14 years and its still holding up fine.

I don't know model names.. lol.. just go look around best buy or circut city... and did i hear you correctly? Picture tubes? how old is this TV? It shouldn't be used for watching TV, it should be in a museum! Picture tubes were the awesomest thing ever.. when they were practical! In fact.. i think i still have my old computer moniter with pic tubes.. lol Ahh.. good things do come in large packages.. lol

But again.. look around best buy, if you are really cheap, check wal*mart, i got a 25" color tv with a vcr built in for less than 180 bucks

BTW.. dont get me wrong, im not insulting you, i think picture tubes are awesome!

Get a flatscreen, stay away from HD's unless you never plan on playing IIDX. I have a 20" flatscreen and it's really nice, shows up clear, crisp and doesn't lag.

The videocard option looks nice, I'll look into things a little more though.

My dad's tv was.... about 16? years old. The color just went bad and that was that.

If I do plan on getting a flatscreen, I won't get HD because
1)extra unnecessary feature for more $
2) yes I do plan on playing iidx....

Hmm...yeah.

I've seen Phillips 24" and 27" at Target for around 300 bucks. That might be a safe bet.

I also suggest bringing the discolored one to college with you as well, I swear it will be one of the greatest drunk tv's ever.

Thanks to everyone. Rep all around, although I'm not sure how it's going to help m33sh though.

Even better idea!: Get insane off of acid, and watch Pee-Wee, it will probably look either normal, or xtremely insane

It's really a piece of junk, but maybe before my parents give it to Goodwill tomorrow, I can possibly take it and play a round of Discolored IIDX/Pop'n, with pictures

Pee Wee was one of the best TV series ever!

BTW why dont you look into an LCD TV?

Samsung LN-S2338W 23"

THat is a 23 inch lcd TV. IT can be used as a computer monitor as well as a regular TV for watching cable and playing your PS2 Xbox games.

I think that goes for about 450 USD.

Hmm, I'll see what I can do, but I've heard that Samsung TVs are shoddily built (at least their tube TVs are). I looked at a 24" Toshiba with DVD player. for 299(?) I'd like to find a Panasonic, but it seems they make very few tube TVs now.

I think my limit to spend on a TV is... ~350....
