Even after someone "dies" of a heart attack, the blood cells are still alive. If they can find more shit on this then imagine how many lives can be saved

I like this definition myself, and no amount of medical intervention is going to bring you back from that because, by definition, it's mathematically impossible.

We attempt to perform methods of revival (CPR, Automated Electro-Defibulator, etc.), and if those don't work it means that the body cannot sustain life, as there's no other fancy way to re-start the body. As depressing as this is to say, CPR and AEDs still aren't very effective, with about a 5% chance of death. Not only that, the brain cells of a person die at a MASSIVE rate when the heart/lungs cease function, so even if they revived them there would be repercussions of brain damage, which is where terms like brain-death and 'vegetable' come from.
Which leaves us with three things that need to be done in order to make this discovery useful. - Find a way to restart the heart outside of CPR and electrical defib.
- Find a way to reverse the brain damage
- Find a way to make the body able to sustain life once more.
Unless all three of those conditions are met, we'll either have people being revived only to die a short time later, a body that cannot be revived but can sustain life once more, or brainless zombies running around like Resident Evil.
And from the original poster's way of talking, we don't just put a blanket over them like Law and Order.
