A church trying to draw people to a marriage seminar has created a scandal instead by sending out hundreds of postcards with red lips and the words "Red Hot Sex."
The mailing from The Gathering church in Sevierville, Tennessee, invites residents to hear pastor Gene Wolfenbarger and his wife reveal what the Bible says about sex in marriage in a series of four classes.
Class titles include "Sex! What Makes It Red Hot" and "Honey I Don't have A Headache."
One local resident said she had never received anything that suggestive in the mail before.
Wolfenbarger apologized to anyone who was offended, but said the mailing was meant to attract attention in a time when the American family is being destroyed by illicit sex.
| This is my church, even! I haven't personally been to a service yet, but if it's anything like SWAT's (Students With A Testimony; aka the Student Ministry) "Bes Sex Ever!" series it's about making wise decisions on sex, like condoms, douches, and hell, just waiting.
Personally I would rather see the funds for the flyers be put to a different use, like possibly a small food ministry, or a christian bookshop, but hey, I don't run the funds.

| I did not know that female hygiene products were sins.

People do realize that they have no material effect on the incidence of pregnancy and STDs, right? (Except for making you marginally more susceptible to yeast infections and human papillomavirus, of course.)

Took a bit of a nap, and now I realize what I said didn't reflect what I meant to say. At all. x_x;;
Pretty much what this series is, is a series of sermons about God's view of us and a pure life before marriage and how to treat each other as husband and wife to keep that spark from flitting out.
From what I gathered from the "Best Sex Ever" series, they should also talk about abstaining until marriage, for those not married yet.
What's different about this from other churches sermons, is that they talk about sex quite freely in the series, and they don't try to say that it's an extremely bad thing. They just tell the basic truth, and nothing more, nothing less. They realize and fully acknowledge the sexually-saturated world we live in today, and they explain what sex is about, and it IS a good thing, but it's a thing of love, and it really is a wise thing to wait.
THAT'S, what I meant to say. SO sorry for the earlier post.

| Yes this is completely different from the previous eight thousand years of family-unit-based civilization

Just because they don't feel the same way that we do about nudity in cartoons, it doesn't mean that all the rules go flying out the window.
