How is this guy sentenced to 74 LIFE SENTENCES IN SOLITARY CONFINEMENT when murderers and rapists often get off with 5-10 years due to plea bargains or lenient sentencing hoping for rehabilitation or some such?
Don't get me wrong, the guy deserves serious prison time (at least 25 years IMO), but this seems incongruous to me.

I mean yeah, that guy will probably make it to the 2nd life, but there's no way he could get to the 75th life.

He abducted two boys and what little I know about this story (as it's a few years old) the boys weren't harmed. Rapists, killers, repeated offenders of drunk driving, and pedophiles get off easier.

THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. If you wanna make little inside jokes to each other, do it through PM's and instant messengers. And any more threads like this that pop up, I'm gonna trash too. This is the only warning ANYONE gets. Anymore like this and I'm gonna start handing out infractions. Thanks for your time.

After re-reading the article, yeah, holy shit, the first kid was abducted in 2002 and wasn't found until the other one got abducted in 2007. That's fucked up.
I still think the "74 life sentences" thing is excessive especially since IIRC there was a large amount of Stockholm Syndrome on the part of the kid (the man wasn't forcefully keeping him from escaping, I don't think).
Seems to me that the judge was just hoping to get media attention with the ridiculousness of that sentence.

I guess presumably this guy would have to be really really good to be eligible for parole overriding 74 life sentences. In some states a "life sentence" means only like 50 or 60 years or so. Then again I don't know anyone who will live 3700 years or more. But all in all year its pretty retarded, I think its easier and less stupid to say, this guy is staying in jail forever. 74 life sentences.. psh.

also yeah he's 41 so i would say 2 life sentences would be enough to keep him there indefinitely

In other words, who would pay him to give 74 life sentences.

Not all crimes merit a death sentence, but they SHOULD be getting punishment and doing something worthwhile for society to make up for whatever they did.
