Honest to God, a kid down the street from me in elementary school knew those patterns. I used to watch him own the game and then laugh when he played Ms. Pac-Man and fail miserably.
Wow. I knew I wasn't an expert or anything, but damn. That right there pretty much prevents me from ever "finishing" Pac-Man.
You can eat them, it's just that they go to flashing immediately.
This is interesting, but it seems like it's more of a game completion guide rather than a perfect game guide. I still haven't figured out how to consistently gather up all the ghosts for eating and then get back on path.
