Marketplace Rating: 1 | This looks fake, but if it isn't I'm fairly disappointed. Would be moreso if I didn't give up on the series when I realized how ridiculously bad I was at it. I couldn't even beat the 7th mission on the second game... | |

Marketplace Rating: 4 | Intelligent Systems: We make great games, then find something that works really well and go with it for 2 or 3 games.
Then we find a way to cock the whole thing up.

Not quite confirmed, but a strong possibility.
...did I mention that there are also video links? I'll have to pull them out of the thread later...

I mean, if you just took Advance Wars: Duel Strike, added in a few new enemy COs and such, you already know each unit, you already know each CO's compatibilities, and you know which team is completley broken for online play.
With this its similar gameplay but you have to learn new units with new COs with less power. Reminds me a bit of the first Advance Wars game or even farther back with Famicom Wars on the NES and SNES.
As for story, its going to be grim, and I like that. Sure it won't be cartoony like I have been used to, but the dark tone makes it stand out a bit more.

It would have been nice to allow different styles of play based on current or past games to be selectable, though, sort of like with some of SNK's more recent fighting games. But I suppose that's probably asking too much.

Thats why I'm not too excited about this, and I love Famicom Wars as a series.
Dont believe me? Play Super Famicom Wars then play Gameboy Wars Advance (Advance Wars). The entire game just got sliced out at the thighs and repackaged, bugs and all. They tried adding some of the elements back in for Advance Wars 2, but they even dumbed that down (They brought back train tracks in the form of pipes, except instead of a move cost of 3, they gave them a move cost of 7 - Impassible/Special) and then made them destructible (at seams).
Oh then we'll try and make the game simpler using touch screen controls and slow the whole fucking game down a ton. In addition to that were going to add retarded overpowered CO Super Powers and make it ridiculously easy to beat every level in the game with one specific CO (read: Jake) because the entirety of the game is one giant plain, and I get a +10% firepower bonus on Plains. Yay for Easy!
But wait, removing the cartoon style that defines Famicom wars and adding online play on top of removing all of the features the game had will definately make it better. I totally agree.
