Ragnarok Online, was actually pretty good back in the day. Granted the game is total shit now, and is the most elitist game I've ever had the mispleasure of trying to play again.
RO:Hey I know! Lets put high level monsters in the newb area to prevent botting!
Me: Why not actually update the game with better encryption of the packets, and what are you going to do if you actually are a newb?
RO: They arent any newbs anymore! Didn't ya know! UPDATES!??!! Whats that? Oh, those things we don't give out that the korean version has had for years? Well its ALOT of work to do them, so be patient.
Me: But... My own little private server with patches translated by a couple of guys is already done and up to date with the korean version... It took them a week or two to translate it.... Its actually running perfectly fine, and we even added some touches of our own. Whats the hold up?
RO: ...uh... that is to say... uh ... Ok kid, we just want your money and stagger the patches for ungoddly long periods of time. Oh wait you say the naughty word of "private server", BANNED!
Me: .... Fuck you.
That situation works for just about any American or International translation of a Korean MMO.
Botters, horrible security, spyware, shitty community of teen / pre-teen anime kids who can't afford to pay for a real game (mommy won't let them use her Visa), non-existant updates, bleh.... I don't even bother with these games anymore.
Its kinda sad since the games themselves are pretty decent, but the community and company who run them are what makes it horrible.
