I think as you said for Mario 64 for the DS not being much of an improvement, the only beef I have with that is just using the D-pad on the DS to grab and swing Bowser into one of those spiked bombs, not like the greased lightning moves they have with the joystick. They had a bunch of add-ons (like grabbing white, yellow, pink, and green rabbits, unlocking chracters, minigames, and special stars only obtained by a particular character, etc.) to further enhance the gameplay. It's not a real bad game, but just the D-pad can get pretty tricky when you don't know how to do tight turns.
But if I were you, I'd just get Super Mario 64 and then mosey up to Mario Kart 64 later on. If you haven't played either of these games, go for it please. You won't be sorry. | |

Marketplace Rating: 11 | at least they give you the option of using the GC controller. it feels more suitable for the N64 games than the classic controller. it just doesnt feel right using that thing, it doesnt have enough grip to warrant using the analog sticks.
the wavebird wins.

More like, you just suck with it and won't play for the five minutes it takes to get used to it. I've got Gold Medals on everything now and I've never touched anything but the Classic Controller for it.
