I'm shrugging my shoulders though...I'm sure it's good, I've read enough on it, but I just don't think their '40' is as such as it was a long time ago. I mean 3 40s this year already.
Gaming publications don't have the clout they once used to have back in the days of pre-56k internet. Now everybody has instant access to enough varied user reviews and streaming online videos thus making the magazine journalist's purpose all that much more irrelevant.
That's not to say Bayonetta didn't deserve the 40 but people still retain the notion that when a publication gives a perfect score to a game that they're implying it's a perfect game. People oughta quit making a stink of things just because it was a perfect game to the reviewers.
The kinds of things that publishers accompany reviewer copies with leaves little wonder to why any reviewer nowadays will show any form of bias even to the hardened proponent of journalistic ethics.

i.e. Moneymoneymoneymooooney~
Not to mention that I've heard a lot of negatives on the PS3 port in comparison to the 360 version...which is important to me because I was cheap enough to go buy a PS3 but not a 360.

in comparison maybe since the game was likely developed on x360 and ported over, however it looks great on ps3 so there's nothing really to care about
