Default Bizarre PSP Problem

I decided to upgrade to 5.50 GEN-B because Playstation Store was denying me access on 5.00 M33-6. Everything's peachy for the first two days. However, last night I was playing Cave Story and I noticed that I was moving right without provocation. I was able to fix this by pressing down on all the directional buttons at the same time. It would work fine for 30 minutes or so and then it would start acting crazy again, but every time I would be able to fix it by pressing down on the d-pad.

This morning I turn my PSP on and without touching a button it goes all the way to the right on the menu. When I press left it goes immediately back to the right. If I hold left it keeps on trying to move right. If I press up or down, nothing happens. Thinking that 5.50 GEN-B may have been what caused it, I downgrade back to 5.00 M33 by using Despertar del Cementerio v8. After installing 5.00 M33 the problem still persists. As a last ditch effort I put on 5.00 OFW. Nothing's working.

The weird thing is when I put in a PSP game, the left, up and down buttons all work fine, even though right is still stuck (whereas up and down don't work in the XMB). If I hit the home button, nothing works. I'm absolutely baffled as how to fix this, or even what is wrong.

Fixed it. Someone else suggested that I put pressure on the buttons while moving my finger in a circular motion. It worked.
