xbox? who the hell uses an xbox?
Default Blue Dragon

Some of the creators from Chono Trigger have banded together once again for a game called Blue Dragon, set to hit the Xbox360. It's being developed by Squaresoft and its primary purpose is not only to draw more Japanese gamers to the Xbox360, but to deliver another killer landmark RPG.

Infos:

Any thoughts?

I remember hearing about this prior to the launch. Opened a link, saw Toriyama, closed and stopped caring. It did pretty damn well in Japan and it'll doubtless do well here but I can't stand his art.

It's pretty much your loss I guess MidReal. If you can't stand it, you can't stand it so oh well.

I'm basically buying a 360 this year (once they fully release the updated 360's that run quieter and cooler and all that) for this game and VF5. And Bioshock. And Mass Effect. And Eternal Sonata. And a bunch of games because the 360 has some seriously fantastic offerings this year.

I don't have a 360 yet, but I'm looking foward to this more then any other game that's came out so far, it sounds very original, and I like the whole... well, everything. My only worry is that the stupid typical gamers of the U.S. won't except it very well. Just like, Okami, the Dragon Quest series, and the Saga series.
...They all pwn people.

So, one of them did well. What about the other 5? (Seeing as they didn't release 5, and 6 here)

Blue Dragon isn't developed by Square. It's developed by Mistwalker, Hironobu Sakaguchi's new development studio after he left Squaresoft.

IIRC Nobuo Uematsu is the composer for this game, too.

How is that in any way relevant to present market trends

VII was brilliant and fresh while keeping the old school thing intact

Cant wait for Blue Dragon which also seems to keep the old school flavor, but still....Dubbing the entire game + translation and localization process...

...we may not see tis game until Halo 3 comes out in which itll be fa overshadowed.

but ill still play the heck outta it!

It already has a July release date as I remember it. And the ability to use Japanese voices with subtitles.

Are they really serious in dubbing the entire thing?

If that's the case and Microsoft still has intentions to translate their games according to the region (like they did with Gears of War, dubbing it totally in spanish)... holy shit, I'd really like to see them do that with Blue Dragon

In a way that doesn't suck, at least.

Picking up a free Game Informer from GameStop today, I saw this was the leading story, and to be honest, I'm very excited.

I've been loving DQ:VIII lately, and to be honest Toriyama's art style has warmed its way into my heart once again (I used to love Dragonball). Combined with the other talent working on this super-project (Uematsu!), I'm pretty stoked.

Now...I only need a XBOX 360...

Although Blue Dragon sold somewhat well in Japan, if I recall correctly people were saying that the game was quite lackluster.

it got extremely good reviews. any actual info on what's lackluster (with exact examples) or is it just gamefaqs being stupid as usual?
