I'm in the middle of it right now. Its really complexe for a game that is shareware.

I'm at the part where if you don't do thing to save curly, she dies. The labyrinth

A group of retarded looking monsters will appear and you will take turns hitting each other. When it is all over you will get 648 Gil and a fire ring. Why the 12 foot tall monster with no hands had a fire ring that fits everyone from you to your grandma will still be mystery to man.

Cave Story is the best thing to come out of an indie developer in a long time. It's managed to do everything right with the genre, and has some amazingly catchy
music.

Now if only my computer would allow me to finish the damn game - It freezes up and boots to desktop at the exact same spot, regardless of video mode.

Cave Story wins so hard, it's not even funny.

The gameplay is so like Metroid and Castlevania:SOTN but in all the right ways. There's quite a good story behind it, the characters are well-designed and the power-up system is innovative. BUT GOD, THAT HIDDEN ENDING!!! That's seriously one of THE hardest challenges I've ever played in a platformer.

I only wish more games were made like this.

If this was a GBA game, it would've been handheld game of the year.

I've had this on my desktop for a month and only played it once. If I wasn't such a lazy ass I'd probably find my USB PC gamepad adapter and play this. I've always preferred 2D games over 3D.

Apparently, hard mode is practically impossible.

Wow...I'd seen this played before, but I didn't realize how awesome it was until I launched in. Very nice, and highly recommended. I just finished my first session and I'm at the Sand Zone.

This game is an awesome platformer! The story and the power ups are really awesome! I would recommend this to anyone as well! I'm also currently in the Sand Zone but I haven't had much time to play because I've been so busy.

This game is AWESOME.
I love it so much that if it delivers on PSP, I will buy a psp.

Right now though, I have a problem.

I can't find that damn tow rope. I know it's in the bottom right but my friend shows me this:

But I see this:

What the hell?

I did that the 1st time too, but most people do that. The real purpose of the towcable stuff is for the secret ending. This is the best freeware I've ever played. It's hard to believe that it was all done by ONE guy in Japan. I would eaisily pay money for this game if their was no freeware. I'm stuck at the *Ahem* final challenge that's done after a black wind courses through, which is uncovered by going in a room while blocks fall all around you (I don't know how to spoiler)

cave story is so good that you just simply have to play it.

it is a great game, one of the best platformers i've ever played, and it was really worth downloading too.

if the PSP version comes out, i'd buy it in an instant

Yes. Despite thread-bump, I'll point out two things that have already been said:
1) This is completely awesome and everyone needs to play it, and
2) Hard Mode was a bitch and a half. But not for the reason you'd think. (Hell, the endboss was simple, it was just the path to him that blew...)
