Default Dead Space

Has anyone played this yet? From the looks of it, it seems really cool and innovative. (No HUD, no Headshots, etc.) Just wanted to hear any opinions out there.

I was watching my friend play it last night and it looked pretty cool. He's already finished it once, so I'm thinking it's a fairly short game, though, but you get to start from the beginning again with all your equipment and items.

I picked it up last week. I havent' gotten much of a chance to play it but I've gone through the first and second chapter and it's a pretty good game. It's definitely not SCARY scary, but there's some stuff that will make you jump and stuff.

Also, nothing like boot stomping a dead body at the neck and making it's head pop off.

It's one of the most fun shooters I've ever played. A huge group of friends and I played from the first through fifth chapter in one night, though most of them had already finished it. Lots of gore and some very awesome boss fights. =)

I heard that the game is cool, but something like 17 levels that are pretty short and the game gets pretty repetitive with the way you kill things. It takes a long time to kill things when you shoot them in the chest, but shoot them twice in one arm to dismember, twice in one leg to dismember, and twice in the head to kill them.

Saw the TV spot of Dead Space and the newer one showed positive reception for many magazines, even though I hate GameInformer for overrating some games (I'm looking at Tony Hawk's Underground 2, for example). Looks like EA Redwood is doing a fine job. I'll ask my friend later about that.

Update: Saw the reception error in the Wikipedia page. Someone needs to clean the Review Scores tab up.

I've been dying to play this game, but with Castlevania released this week, theres no way I could dedicate any free time to it, let alone spend the full 60 bucks for something I wont play much.

I heard this was short though =/ which is a huge turn off. I'm all for short and sweet but I'm getting tired of having to pay 60 dollars for a 3 hours experience (Im looking at your Gears of War)

I'm at Chapter 4 (out of 13?) and I'm at 3 hours so no, it's not that short. Pretty standard length game. Just play it on Hard so there's some real tension. Also, you can't max out or even buy everything in one playthrough and there's a difficulty higher than Hard so it's got some legs.

So I finally got around to picking this up, and I'll be honest, I can only play this an hour at a time without losing my mind. The game is scary as shit and basically taps into every fear I have.

Its a shame this topic isn't more busy, because the game is really good.

I picked it up when it was released and played the first chapter. Unfortunately since then Fable 2 came out, then Fallout 3, then Gears 2. Fuck, I hope I can get around to actually putting time into this game...

I had nightmares about this game and I havent seen anything but the box.
I was in a room and one man killed the female character from portal, and was eating her and saying stuff to me. Then, a good guy came out and gave me a flame thrower to defend myself. I kept saying "I dont want to play this anymore" and he said "you dont have a choice."
Before I even used it, the blow torch ran out of fluid and I had to resort to a pairing knife I found on the floor.
It doesent help that im sleeping in the creepiest house I have ever been in. Theres a kitchen, den, living room, and then a hallway with all the spare rooms, then a long creepy hallway with mirrors on the ceiling leading to the mothers room, where I sleep.

It's startin to look that way. Fallout is almost done, not interested in Gears and I've put Fable on the back burner for now. So I think the next thing I'll take a crack at is this for sure.
