So you guys are confusing me.

Should I go and get me my Final Fantasy game or not?
It looks good, but you all criticise gameplay. Is it just because it's a shooter-like game?

I played the Japanese version of this

It feels like DMC for pussy-ass house bitches

Reviews seem to indicate that this has not changed much at all, and that the improvements to controls may have actually made it easier

I'm not critizing it because of the type of game it is, or the story, or due to the fact that it's a Final Fantasy game.

I'm critizing it because this game is horrible. The controls are crap, gameplay is repetitive, and the whole thing just fails to hold itself together.

I'm sure that it might feel better if there hasn't already been better games that have done the third person action type game better beforehand. You know, Devil May Cry or God of War or whatever you want to take your pick.

If you love Final Fantasy -that- much that you have every game known to man, including the Final Fantasy games that weren't really Final Fantasy games for the Game Boy, then sure, by all means, pick this up.

However, after about half an hour of it I couldn't take the game anymore and ended up trading it in for store credit that afternoon. It was -that- bad.

If this is true than I'm very disappointed as I was debating getting this game.

You gotta love how they removed HDD support so you can't play online with "PlayOnline". How many forced removals of HDD content has that been now Sony? Doesn't compare to how pissed I was at the lack of HDD utility disc updates, web browsing anyone?, but its just sony's attitude that pisses me off mainly. At least let HDD users have something.

But yea guys, its a spin off of ff7, its a piece of horseshit but does that matter? It's still going to sell to the way too many people who think FF7 is "OmG Best GAme Evar!!!11!" This is already like 15 dollars new in Japan.

I played it a little bit last night, and while it wasn't good, I don't think it's as terrible as everyone's making it out to be. Yeah it's easy, and yeah the controls are kinda bad, but it was entertaining to play, plus Vincent has always been my favorite FF7 character, and like cj said, it'll be nice to find out some more backstory on him.

And for those of you saying N3 will be/is so much better and you wish you would've bought that instead, sad face for you guys. It's terrible.

Being able to play as Cait was fun, even if really brief. I think I'm near the end, and Vincent fighting his way up through the levels of the Shinra HQ Tower is nostalgia city.

Funny, they gave Cloud almost no role at all. He gets a moment or two, and that's it so far.

I am getting this game just for the storyline.

basically, that's what this game is for, anyway.

even just a teeny bit of an extension of the AC story is good enough for me.

I'm having a lot more fun with N3 than I did with this game.

But different strokes for different folks!

Any FF7 fan'll be in heaven.

Just getting to fight to the top of the Shinra Building is probably a selling point.

I'm on the final level, and they've already made Vincent's story more complicated than ever.

So much for Lucrecia/Vincent/Hojo's story ever being simple again. And any Hojo fans are in for a serious treat.

Yeah, it's so terrible that I had tons of fun playing it last night and getting through a few storylines.

I finished DoC at 11:37 or so.

I enjoyed it. I'll probably be replaying it again on Hard just to get the hidden icons I missed.

And the ending was nice. I didn't get EVERYTHING I hoped for
Lucrecia's still imprisoned in that stupid crystal..., but it was still good.

I just played up through Chapter 9 (not sure how many Chapters there are) and I'll give a brief review.

Aiming was a bit horrible. I had to switch to inverted to get used to it more, but it was still a bit hard to aim.
The story is decent, its nice to see more storyline behind Vincent and his journey from the Turks to where he is now (this isnt spoilers at all, it was mentioned in FF7 that he was in the Turks, during the Lucrecia bonus quest).

The next part is kinda spoilers but not really, but I'll put the tag in anyways.
Also, I'm glad they decided to reshow that Lucrecia and Hojo are the parents of Sephiroth.

Going back to the Train Graveyard, Shinra Mansion, and Shinra HQ brought back memories, it was nice to see those in 3D.
