It's Atlus which right there means it's at least worth a look

It's only great news if the PS3 version gets canned. What the fuck do you need a PS3 for to run Disgaea?
Otherwise...fuck yes.
I highly doubt this will come out on the PS3. Mostly because of the graphics engine and the opportunity reach out to a much bigger audience with a handheld like with the PSP port. SQ is already taking well advantage of that so why not Atlus?
An NIS staff member responded to this at the PA forums. It's not as cut and dry as that, but they've basically got something in the works, and it wouldn't be for a very, very long time.

-If a Disgaea game hits DS, it won't be for a while, and it almost certainly won't be a port.
-While some may think us fools for not considering the DS sooner, one thing you have to realize is that there is a much smaller profit margin for us with carts over CD/DVD. So for us to turn a profit requires a much higher volume of sales. PS2 was sort of a win-win for us, because of the higher profit margin per disc PLUS the insanely high installed userbase. DS has the high userbase going for it, but now we also have to sell much more just to get the same return. I think it'll pay off in the end, but it's certainly a risky first-time venture.
