But if anyone has oddities about that game, like why Barret's Mind Blow has no effect on bosses after Bottomswell (at Junon), why Aerith was named Aeris in the PS1 U.S. version, and why the character models in the field (not battle or CG movies) don't have a mouth (I think), feel free to ask here.

FF7 was a great game it just got a ridiculous amount of fanboyism, so now all the big e-penis wagglers out there say it sucks just to try to be cool.
I remember always giving my characters silly names though, like Mr. T (Barret), Jugs (Tifa), Cat Shit (Cait Sith), etc Generic but I thought it was funny when I was 15 or whatever.

I know that FF7 was critically accliamed when it was released just about a decade ago, but with more FF7 released like Advent Children, Before Crisis, cough...Dirge of Cerberus, and Crisis Core to expand the story, especially since the artist of FFVII did them all including Crisis Core (Tetsuya Nomura I'm talking about, who also did Kingdom Hearts). I did ask the questions in the first post, but I think they would already be answered in other sites (I'm looking at you, GameFAQs).

Have you ever played 7 and noticed that sometimes the characters don't have both of their eyes? (out of battle)

I must admit Disc 2 was epic, though.

If you like it, you like it. If you don't, you don't. It's more of a 'dividing line' game that's done extraordinarily well.
Usually, fanboyism games give me a bad case of the turnoffs, but I wasn't even that far introduced to FF until the later 90s as it was, so when I DID play it 10 or so years ago via recommendation I was pretty happy with what I got.
Now to play through it again, I'd have to overmax my stats on every character and hit 9999 every time with Cloud's Buster Sword and use Cover 100% to shield the rest of my crew and simultaneously evade every attack given by anyone in the game, including Emerald Weapon, or it just wouldn't be worth it.
The only problem is I grew up after 10 years ago.

That's right I said it but I doubt anyone will disagree with me.

However, I did go back and revisit playing through FFVII once I finished playing Crisis Core; that actually gave me a newfound respect for the game. Especially since Crisis Core kind of fills in all those little plotholes and things (like the voice in Cloud's head being Zack, etc.). Sephiroth is still a stupid villain, but the game at least was better than I remembered.

Did Square add that boss battle to provide an additional challenge for importers who finished the import version?

I believe Ruby was too, but I'm not 100% sure on that. The US version also has a couple extra FMVs in it as well.

VII was an alright FF, but I still prefer VIII and IX, IX in particular because of the story.
I did like the materia system of VII though, I had fun swapping out different materia between characters.
