This is the worst "back on the interwhats" day I've ever had.

Now I'll never get to go...

If E3 weren't pointless and closed to the public, then maybe this wouldn't have happened!

Well, theres always the tokyo game show.

What they should do is make tickets cost somthing and let anyone in like they do for the TGS.

They might turn a profit there.

Edit: By TGS I mean Tokyo Game Show.

A group of retarded looking monsters will appear and you will take turns hitting each other. When it is all over you will get 648 Gil and a fire ring. Why the 12 foot tall monster with no hands had a fire ring that fits everyone from you to your grandma will still be mystery to man.

Man. I was really hoping to make it back one day. :/

E3 is amazing; whatever you expect it to be from press coverage, it was ten times better in person.

i blame it on G4's "super duper OMG backstage access coverage". All that attention and hoopla has to cost an uber amount of money, and rarely do you get an adequate return on that type of investment...

its all bout BowlmaniFest now...

They aren't getting rid of E3. They're just downsizing it a little bit. Check Gamespot.

Everything I've read about the act of physically going to E3 makes it sound horrifying. Three days of being stuffed together with a stockade of sweaty fat geeks and standing in hour-long lines with them so that you can go play some two-minute demo that might actually work the entire time? No thanks.

Being scaled back is the more likely scenario, anyway, and if E3 doesn't stay the largest US show then CES will take over or something else. I really don't think the concept is going away entirely.

How so? Also: don't call me a moron and then apologize in the same sentence.

I mean, ok. Pointless was probably a little strong. And I'm certainly not looking forward to E3 being replaced with force-fed, independent PR from every major developer that has the money to spend on this kind of thing, but come on. E3 generated a lot of negative trends in the video game industry. The rush to finish an E3 build, a forced "revolution in gaming" every 5 years, all the nonsense about "winning" E3. It was a lot of ridiculousness every year that probably did a lot of harm to video games as an industry. Assuming there's no sinister undertones behind the ESA's decision to cancel the event, I imagine they felt the same way.

I'm also going to second dog$ impression that E3 at times resembled some bizarre video game hell, and that another large trade-show will probably pick up E3's slack in the future.

I have to agree that if E3 weren't closed to the public, then they might not have had to worry about losing money.

I mean, TGS is a public gaming event and they're doing fine.

Honestly, I'm somewhat glad that E3 is done for cause having these so-called 'next gen' systems shoved down my throat is something I am getting sick of cause companies aren't really using the technology to the fullest extent.
