No, one isn't enough. I had a whole team of lolis last time. Well, 4 lolis and one shota. Endless possibilities.

I actually just got back to the original a few days ago. Hopefully I'll actually get somewhere this time. It'd be nice if the game let you know how long you'd been playing for, because I honestly have no idea.

I heard from a million people that the first one sucked.
It couldnt have sucked to bad or they wouldnt have made a sequel.
But then theres legend of heroes.

You know a million people who can't stomach hard games. Etrian Odyssey was really awesome and really tough. A true throwback dungeon crawler, simplistically designed, brutally hard, and ridiculously fun.

Etrian Odyssey wasn't hard so much as it required grinding. Nothing in the game was hard at all if you leveled up enough to meet the challenge. Now, the five extra levels at the end are ridiculous because even at max level the last boss has 5x as much HP as the "regular" final boss so AGH. I still haven't beaten it -- but I want to go back and do it especially now that a sequel is announced. B27F/B28F are also ridiculously stupid without using a map or a guide.

On another note, I'm very glad to see that they're adding new directional-arrow map icons. The first game had LOTS of one-way/two-way shortcuts and there was really no way to denote those on your map. I just moved the door to one side of the passage to denote one-way and in the middle for two-way, but arrows would have been nice to have.

That's funny, because I think the worst thing I've ever heard anyone call the game was 'average'. Granted I do think the game is a tad overrated personally, it's still enjoyable.

Though it does serve as a painful reminder that I played all the way through the original Phantasy Star last year only to arbitrarily stop right at the end. I really need to get back to that game, but it's so hard to remember what it is I'm supposed to do...

I haven't even seen the first game in action still.

I got the email from Atlus last night. Can't wait!
