Favorite Fighting Game Characters

My knowledge of fighting game mechanics is terribly sub-par...So when I judge fighting games, something that is very important to me is the characters.
So, I would like to know, who are your favorite characters from fighting games, and what fighting games do you think have the best character designs?

These are my picks =D:
2D:
Garou: Mark Of The Wolves, Guilty Gear and Waku Waku 7.
Garou's characters strangely appealed to me, strangely because the characters were in a way, stereotypical, but unique. I loved nearly every design (the only one I disliked was Kevin O=) and is the only SNK game I know that doesn't have a hideous looking boss! =D
My favorite characters from that game are Jae Hoon, because I love the tae kwon do fighters, and Kain, reason above.
Guilty Gear and Waku Waku 7's designs are some of the most unique and interesting I have ever seen in a 2D fighting game. And that's all I really have to say about the other two. xD;;;
My favorite characters from those games are Bridget (I love those yo-yos and Roger :P), Slayer (Coolest vampire ever), Jam and the robot nurse from Waku Waku 7 whose name escapes me.

3D:
Soul Calibur and Rival Schools
Soul Calibur has some of the coolest weapon designs ever, like Tira's Hoop and Setsuka's umbrella. The joke weapons are cute too. The characters have their own personalities, most to all of them fitting into any one stereotype or coming across as a copy of another character. (Except Mitsurugi...But he's based off somebody real. ;V)
Rival Schools is another game with amazing and very innovative character designs. Their student designs were more than lots of lolis in schoolgirl uniforms and the had fighting teachers. That is simply amazing. =D Unfortunately, I haven't played this game in nearly forever so I don't know much about the later designs. D; (Kurow, Momo, etc.)
My favorite character from Soul Calibur would have to be Xianghua.
I can't decide on a favorite character from Rival Schools because my memory of it is really really blur. D: I'd say I love the teachers most though, especially Hideo.

Trivia:
I like The Last Blade's designs more than the Samurai Shodown ones. -dies-
I used to like the Mortal Kombat designs (before the uninspiring ones in the 3D installments) until my sister went all fangirl and "OMGZ THIS IS TEH BEST GAME EVAR!!" Now it pains me to look at even Scorpion. D;

Which Dio?

My favorites are the charge characters, the ones that play like Guile. They're the chars I use the most in lotsa fighting games, since they're great zoners and usually their charge moves have little recovery time and/or high priority.

So yeah, I like using Guile, Charlie, Ash, Venom and etc.

From Rival Schools, I'm best with the Akira/Gan/Edge team. In Project Justice, adding Daigo into the mix, they're unstoppable. Kyosuke/Batsu/Hinata are a close second, followed by the DSSC(Kurow/Yurika/Momo).

SF Alpha, Rose, then in 2, Sakura or Gen, maybe Akuma, and in 3, Karin. Sometimes Dan or Ken if I'm experimental. Birdie if I'm feeling insane.

Tekken, no contest: Julia.

I'm not that good at Guilty Gear, but I like using Dizzy and/or Bridget.


And for Last Blade 2/Capcom VS SNK 2: Hibiki.

Out of all of them, I like Jedah (as a character) the most. Tira is a lot of fun to play as, though.

I like using charge characters in the arcade 'cos I suck with joysticks. >:V *Shotshot*

Design wise, my favorite is Charlie from Street Fighter ZERO (what's Alpha ). He is the character from SF with the biggest style ever.

My least favorite of them would be Ash, but just because his design screams "FALCOON!" all over him.

My favorite character in Guilty Gear is Anji Mito, hands down. He's also my favorite in any 2D fighter. Gaurd point is so pro.
In Tekken, Law. He's been my favorite since I was a kid.
In Hokuto no Ken, Jagi. I watched the series after I played the game though.
I've never played street fighter somehow.
