This finally comes out in North America on October 9th.
According to Wikipedia, PSM's November 2007 issue states that the US release of game has an "excellent translation" and full voice acting for all of the new cutscenes. Personally, the new translation is the main thing that I'm buying this game for, so I'm really happy about that.
Who else is looking forward to this?

Voice acting is only for the new FMV cutscenes, but yeah.

I heard there was some lag when doing certain summons. Is this true or am I thinking of some other game?

The Japanese version had slowdown issues, but the North American version has that issue corrected and has no more slowdown than the original PSX version did.
Additionally, here's a list from GameFAQs of some of the additional events added to the remake: Quote:
Chapter 4
Suppression of a former Hokuten Knight - (listen to the rumor at Igros or Gariland and then go to the Thieves Fort to start the event; you need to have seen the event "Reunion with Ovelia" at Zeltenia Castle; Agrias is treated as a guest and if you deploy Cid, there is a conversation event)
Death Knight Algus - (an added battle between the Elmdor and Zelera battles)
Kletian vs Meliadoul - (after the Zelera battle, go to Dorter for this event to start)
Agrias and Ovelia's Reunion - (after clearing Murond Holy City this event will occur at Zeltenia Castle; if Alicia and Lavian are in the party at the time, they will accompany Agrias)
Balthier - (after clearing Zeltenia Castle, listen to the rumor about the Sky Pirate at Gariland; afterwards, listen to the rumor at Dorter and the event should start when you try to move)
Ares and Beowulf - (after clearing Holy City Murond and getting Beowulf and Reis in human form go to Lionel for the event to start; Reis will leave temporarily and Beowulf will be a guest until the event is over)
Agrias Event - (Mustadio gives Agrias lipstick at the pub)
This event is supposedly very interesting, but no word on how/when to make it appear.
| I also forgot to mention that there is wireless multiplayer (but no internet multiplayer) included as well.

I don't even own a PSP but I plan on buying this because at some point, I will have one. Probably after Christmas.

Wait, it's a remake/port? I came.
FFT was one of my favorite old games for my PS1, I opened the case one day to see that my brother had cracked the disc, that made me sad

I picked up PSM tonight and yeah, it's got a pretty nice review in it. Game of the Month and a 9.5 score (Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles got the other 9.5 in the issue). Lots of nice pictures, too.

Has some descriptions of the new classes too I believe. Specifically, you have to play multiplayer to get equipment for the Onion Knight class. Also describes Balthier's Sky Pirate class as a mix between Engineer and Thief and Luso's class is something like Mob Hunter.

Yeah. Balthier pretty much replaces Mustadio when you get him (he has all of Mustadio's abilities, plus all of the Thief abilities, plus an innate ability), and Luso has all of Ramza's abilities (sans Ultima, but he can still learn that) plus an innate Poach ability.
Mustadio's only worthwhile for chapters 2 & 3 until you get Balthier, then, I guess.
The Dark Knight class looks pretty nice (like Gafgarion but with extra abilities to make them more versatile) but I don't imagine I'll ever find anybody around here who has the game so I won't be able to get that equipment. I heard something about some sort of PC tunneling software to let you play games via the internet while the PSPs think they're on a local connection (a la pre-Live Xbox online gaming), but I don't know too much about that.
