The article you linked is talking about Gamespot discussing whether or not they THINK Square Enix should do it.

There isn't anything there saying it's going to be done.

Personally, I think they should remake IV or VI before they remake VII.

Square Enix has never stated this. The company then followed up by reaffirming the development of Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII for the Playstation 3, as well as Final Fantasy Agito XIII for mobile devices as part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis Project.

maybe it will be released in the future...2007 is way to early to release a remake it would take time to make everything look better graphically

Squaresoft has outright said that it's not in development right now, and will more than likely never be. It would be pretty sweet though.

meh, paying over $600 to play a remake of a game that i have on ps1 kinda bugs me, it WILL be the same story and all, only updated graphics, who knows tho, square always has shit up their sleeves.

I'd much rather see a remake of a two dimensional game on the PS3. I don't know how many games have been remade like that, but it would be pretty sweet. Seeing FF6 in full 3D...

EGM printed that they were in fact definitely making the remake, and it was confirmed, but they were way way wrong.

SE isn't makign a remake. IGN has had many articles on this story and asking SE many times about this and each time, they have gotten a negative about it.

Personaly, I would not want to see one. I'm sick of seeing FF7 knock offs. I love the game, but damn SE let the game die.

I think a sequel to FF8 ;I may be interested in. A FF8 sequel can actually be pretty good if done right.

Squeenix already denied HGM's claim, didn't they? Oh, and for the record, Best Buy had (or still has?) a 'FFVII PS3 release: Dec 1st 2006) listed on their website.

Yeah, I help edit/write for a Squeenix website that stays pretty damn quickly up-to-date.

I liked FFVII and all, it wasn't a bad game. If Square was set on doing a remake of a Final Fantasy, that would earn them the most money for sure, but really, I think they need to let 7 just die. They're stretching what was a dead game into a whole 'nother decade. It's time to move on, fanboys, please. Let them focus on new material.

to be 3D ^_^ If it were really polished sprites, that would be amazing!
We just need some really good 2D graphics these days~ everything's 3D now ^_^''

As far as Sony is concerned, that's how it will stay. Sony denies the release of any title that is completely 2D. It's a miracle that any 2D fighters came out at all for the PS2 - I know a lot of companies have gone through some serious grief to get their games out on the PS2 because of the policy.

Remember that back in 2003, Square said they WERE going to remake FFVII, FFVIII and FFIX for PS2. But they never did.

The official hard fact was that they would consider it if all the other projects at S-E would get finished and they would have time to do this.

This is a rumour.

Also, I wish people would shut the fuck up already. VII was a good game, yes, but special thanks to the internet it's increased in unnecessary popularity for no apparent reason. There's a far sight more RPGs which need attention. Such as Landstalker for Megadrive, which is a masterpiece. Or Shining Force's series, or Alundra for example.

I wouldn't be wrong in saying VII is overrated. :10bux: says that Cloud will look half female in the remake, though.
