Default Fixing a PS2 with 2 White Gears

Everywhere I go that has a guide on fixing PS2s only has a guide for 1 gear PS2s.

I've got a modded fliptop and I really want to play games on it again.

Anyone know or know of a guide on how to fix it?

Edit: If it helps, my PS2 beeps a long beep when it starts up and then when its trying to read something, it makes kind of a wobbled beep.

The screen wills spin and battle music will start to play. You and drunk friends will be forced to stand in a line rocking back and forth holding over sized swords. A group of retarded looking monsters will appear and you will take turns hitting each other. When it is all over you will get 648 Gil and a fire ring. Why the 12 foot tall monster with no hands had a fire ring that fits everyone from you to your grandma will still be mystery to man.

A PS2 beeping?!?! This a first to me...

Is the beeping coming from an internal buzzer/speaker (I've never seen one of these in a PS2)? Or do you mean beeping as in something grinding/laser screaming?

EDIT: Also, you didn't mention what's wrong with it specifically... I'm guessing it doesn't read disks?

Yep, doesn't read disks. The beeping comes from the DVD tray area.

Thanks.

Is this a "I'd be better off getting a new new PS2" or "Just find a new laser" kind of problem?

depends on the laser model. If it's a KHS-400B or KHS-400C; expect to shell out close to sixty five bucks for the laser. If it's an old model (highly doubted with twin alignment gears) the KHS-400As are kinda cheapo. If it's got the HD-DVD lens (KHS-400R) then I'd tell ya to go buy a used PS2 and switch the lids

Got a guide on how to figure out which one I got or does it say on the part itself?

Is it a beep or is it a grinding? There's a chance that the tracking arm of the laser is off, although giving the laser a really good cleaning can work wonders. Not just the top of the laser either, take it out of the system, remove the black cover from the laser, lift the lens, and clean underneath it. Be very careful with that of course, since there's a LOT of sensitive little bits in that laser head.

However, as I recall, the dual gear PS2s are 2003 models, which are pretty much dead in the water when it comes to needing to be fixed; and be careful with the metal bridge holding the laser rails in place since it's very easy to bend out of shape, and then it doesn't do its job very well (or at all for that matter).
