Default Gamecube Wavebird Wireless Controller and Wii?

If I get a Wii, I want to get a Gamecube Wavebird Wireless Controller (so I can have everything wireless) but the reciever that plugs into the controller port looks big, and the larger portion is on top. Can the Wavebird receiver fit on the Wii Gamecube Docking Station? (the top compartment)

Nothing is known about that yet, but I wouldn't count on it. I would think it would interfere with the normal controllers.

I don't think so.

That would be cool though.

I was thinking the same thing. I know that the Wavebirds won't affect each other as long as they are on different channels, but against other Wii-Motes, I'm not sure. I have a Wavebird as well and am wondering the same thing. Guess we'll just have to wait for Nintendo to let us know or just see once the console comes out.

My guess/hope though, is that they'll be fine, since the Wavebird is a first-party controller, not a third-party brand controller. From the pic it looks like the sensor piece will fit into the Wii just fine.

*shrugs*

Nintendo has said that it will (I cannot at the moment cite this, but I'll look for confirmation in the morning), but maybe you could wait until the system is available to see for certain. I'm sure that someone could confirm it at that point.

How the hell would a Wavebird affect a remote

They wouldn't ever be on at the same time :|

There's some speculation that you could use the Wavebird without the reciever plugged in. This hasn't been confirmed, I don't think, but they should definitely work on the Wii somehow..

Get a gamecube extension cable, thats a good way to fix the problem if you do, the only problem is you have a bunch of stuff lieing around.

you know how the GCN controller port is a circle but flat on top? Well on the Wii, the flat part is facing away from the "door" to the conpartment. So I assume it would fit, seeing as the large portion faces the flat part. Still open for discussion.
