Default Gradius Rebirth announced for WiiWare

Coming this summer (well, in Japan right now)

Perhaps Capcom & Mega Man 9 are starting to make other companies revive some of their old series'. I can't wait until this comes out. Wonder what the Konami Code will do...

Well, at least it'll be a downloadable title, and so the chances to see it around here are way higher.

EDIT: Oh, I see, graphics made me remember Gradius III.

Actually, it seems more akin to Gaiden's.

I thought of making a thread of this, but I underestimated the fan basis of Gradius here.

573 post, BTW

If its a 2d shooter from Konami, its worth making the thread just for me, and what Ill do.

It does look like Gradius Gaiden, which is a good look for it. It will be small and not OMFG CONFUSING THREE DEE GRAPHICS.

This solely makes me regret selling my wii.

Good thing they're not hard to come by now.

Bumped with link to trailer for the game. It got released on WiiWare on Sept. 2nd in Japan. STILL no word if it's coming to America.

Appears to have Gradius 3 (SNES) graphics. It's suppose to be a "remix" of levels from past games. It features a two modes, a standard game with unlimited credits and a Score Attack mode (supports Online Leaderboards) where players are only given a single credit to beat the game.

Once I get a PSP, I'm gonna get the Gradius Collection (& the Parodius Collection).

This game looks awesome, it looks like a good remix of the best levels from all the Gradius games remade in a high res version of the Gradius Gaiden engine, in other words, "perfect"

As for the PSP versions, dont bother if you get a PSP-1000. If you get the slim or the new PSP 3000 series, its great.

I'm waiting for the PSP-3000 bundle coming out in October. Let me guess, the 1st PSP model has a really bad LCD screen? I saw the comparison of the 2000/Slim & 3000 & I was impressed enough to get one (along w/ enough games that I'd get for it)

Maybe once I get some money, I'll get the original Gradius 3 SNES cartridge from my used game store (which I need to check to see if they're hiring).

Also, I hope that Burning Heat (the song) made it in.

Unfortunately, there only seems to be 5 stages....

Seems to take a lot from the MSX games/Nemesis '90 Kai, as well. Stage 2 is has a remix of "Last Exit", I believe, and one of the later bosses is similar to a Salamander MSX boss. Word is you can unlock the Metalion ship from the MSX games, too. Also the boneyard sand stage is like a mix of Gradius III's sand stage and the PC-Engine exclusive stage.

DOH's back and he's pissed!

EDIT:
YouTube - GRADIUS ReBirth??????? - cameo of Metal Gear Mk.1

Controls:

Wiimote (I assume NES-style)
Wiimote+Nunchuk
GCN Controller (though the D-Pad is NOT meant for 2D VC games. Seriously, it's very annoying not being able to use the analog stick on sidescrollers like Gunstar Heroes or NES games)...
Classic Controller (what I'll be using)

1st Impressions from WiiWare World

That settles it, I'm getting this the instant it shows up here.

No, I think he means the D-pad in early PSP models isn't that good for this kind of games. It's a pain to get diagonals with it.

Or well, who knows. My PSP is from the "fat" line and I can do diagonals fine (and no, not modded).
