Marketplace Rating: 0 | Halo Wars There are more halo games being made besides Halo 3 and I wanted to know what everyone thinks about it. One of the games is going to be a RTS and I can't wait to be able to play Halo in this style of gameplay because I love games like Age of Empires and Command and Conquer. You guys need to check out the link for the story and the second link will take you to a site to watch a trailer for this new game they are making, it is pre- rendered but who cares it is really sick! http://www.bungie.net/News/TopStory....nk=bungieatx06 http://www.halowars.com/

Marketplace Rating: 4 | wasn't Halo going to originally be an RTS on the Mac in the first place before the Microsoft buyout?
it would be pretty badass if they did bring it to the PC as well, being an RTS and all. (though BfME2 was an RTS as well and it worked fine actually, it was just as great as the PC version, so i guess it shouldnt be too hard to make Halo Wars easy to control)

Marketplace Rating: 3 | Why would it have been? Bungie had done more action-oritented shit beforehand.
Also, there are conflicting reports regarding a future PC release. As it stands, only 360 has been confirmed, so at the very least the game will be designed to flow on a console scheme rather than trying to shove it as a PC port.
As an admitted Halo whore, I cry over my lack of 360. A PC port wouldn't do me much better since my machine isn't very great, though.

Maybe if you could use a keyboard, but not just a controller. Even if you have a good strategy and know what you're doing, Hotkeys and ctrl-click groups can make or break you on AOE3 simply because its all about speed and how much you can micro manage.
I used to like halo, because the universe is badass. The books plus the first game were great. Halo 2 destroyed all of that.

The thing is, though, that it does work. It's not as slick as a keyboard and mouse, to be sure, but it gets the job done.

As an admitted Halo whore, I cry over my lack of 360. A PC port wouldn't do me much better since my machine isn't very great, though. | I remember seeing footage of Halo from about '99 or '00, and it was a 3D strategy game, with a lot of the stuff in it that is recognizable in the FPS it is today, like Warthogs and contollable Spartans.
I think the units could be controlled literally like the RTS Urban Assualt (btw, has anyone played it? it rocked), and when Microsoft bought it, they took that part of the game and turned it into an FPS.
It was also only coming out on Mac and PC i think at the time, but after they bought it, it became an X-Box exclusive( well not since the port)
Plus Bungie has developed games other than FPSs, including strategy games, so i dont see why Halo couldn't have been an RTS.

at that point that's whats on the Limited Edition DVD. I have seen some footage from when it was an RTS, you might be able to find it on some video sites.
after Microsoft bought Bungie after E3 that year and announced it was going to be the FPS that Halo: Combat Evolved turned out to be.
