I remember my friends having one & they had Gunstar Heroes, which was SOOOOOO fun. Took me years before I learned what the name of the game was called & being able to buy it via Virtual Console. I have a Genesis that I bought a few years ago at a garage sale for only $5 (1st model) that came w/ a 2nd controller, Sonic The Hedgehog, & Paperboy. Sadly, since I have to hook it up via REALLY old TV (it's not A/V like usual & not cable. I can't think of the name....), I can't play it. I also have Sonic & Knuckles that I've had for YEARS since my babysitter had a Genesis, so when I was over, I'd play it there or my friends' house. I remember being so amazed at being able to put the other Sonic games on top & being able to pay as Knuckles in those games (this was back before the N64 was released).

Kinda funny how Earthworm Jim, a game NOT made by Sega, is in the lead. Plus all of these are available on the Wii's Virtual Console.

and even owning both Genesis and SNES as a kid, i have more childhood memories of playing Genesis. NHL '95, Road Rash, Streets of Rage, Sonic 2, Toejam and Earl...i just seemed to rent better Genesis games as a child. in my later years, i've enjoyed SNES more, due to going back and playing games i moronically didn't play as a kid like Super Metroid (yeah, i know...what the fuck was i doing?) but the Genesis is where i spent more time vegging with as a kid.
i played so much Genesis, i beat Sonic Spinball. sheesh.
and look at forward thinking SEGA...releasing games in plastic cases back in the 16 bit days...bless you SEGA, you helped me keep my old games in good condition. and a pox on all the Genesis games in used game stores without cases. they were heavy duty plastic kids?! what the fuck were you doing throwing them away?!
