I wouldn't expect to see any pricedrops until bluray has at least some sort of larger impact in the home. I'd guess 2 years.

I still say that people only call older games better or "waaaay better" because of some strange nostalgia notion of magicalness. The other idea is that the person is older and has played them now and has something against the company for the system (like with Sony) or they've gotten into the habit of calling everything "corporate gimmicks" (which, by the way, is the MOST ANNOYING term ever). Or they're just pretentious and annoying.

People complain about the PS3's launch but then don't mention that the PS2's launch was far worse. Woo, I bought....Sky Odyssey? And that was basically the only good launch game. And it really wasn't all that good. The PS3 at least has Devil May Cry 4.

People complain that, oh man, you have to "wave your hands around" with the Wii. This isn't true. Not unless that's the actual action you're representing. Throwing grenades in Metal Slug? More than likely a quick flick upwards. Swinging your sword in Zelda? Quick little flicks. These aren't wide movements. They're mouse-movements. People act like you have to do 25 jumping jacks to run forward.

The 360 launched with basically nothing. It had very little aside from the awesome ideas and those are just starting to come together now. Wait 6 months from now and I think you'll see a fantastic system.

It's had a switch from the "value" pack to being buyable by itself at $50 cheaper. It's true that we're past the eighteen month mark but I think there might be some cheap-ish bundle this holiday season or in the summer of 2007.

@Dewgy Sony froze psp price drops soley for the PS3. I don't think we are gonna see a price drops on the psp until the PS3 turns profit, which may be a while longer.

About the PS3 price drop in genreal, yeah until blu-rary gets common and sony switches to their 65nm cell process, and ps3 turns a profit, don't look for a price drop soon.

I think part of the reason why I'm not interested into this genreation atm, because it's no longer about games anymore. It's more about what this fanboy says about this console or what that fanboy says about that console and how PS3 is gonna fail, x360 will flop, wii is gimmicks. I think all becuse of this, we have devlopers unsure of what platform they want to choose. As a result we have so may multi-plats flying around and some devlopers just ignoring a system alltogther.

Once the fanboy fagotry calms down, I'll get into the next gen, but not now.

That's still going to be wearing thin before the end of the first dungeon unless they chop out the bulk of the combat. :|

Ignore the dipshits and buy what you like. It's what I've been doing ever since I got a steady bit of income; after one hits that condition there's no reason to be defensive or belittling about anyone's choices unless they're rooting for something like the N-Gage or Gizmondo.

I'm agreeing with you on that one. I think all this hype about the Wii controller is going to crash when people see that its only good for simplistic games. Nintendo has already stated they want short, pick up and play, easy games. They don't want the next Final Fantasy.

Madroll's right on this one. If you have the time and money buy and play next-gen no matter which one when it comes out, knock yourself out (figurative). We have no problem with that. If you're going to just get stuff on current or older gen consoles and maybe wait a while for the Wii, 360 or PS3 to come out with some A-Rank titles, that's wise too. But merely bitching about next-gen being same old, same old and not worth the money means one of three things.

One: You can't afford it.
Two: You don't care.
Three: All of the above.

It took me forever for me to even buy a PS2 (and it's worth it for Bemani and shooters).

Halo is better than Doom because of a refinement of the ideas presented in Doom and some construction on the foundations laid, including but not limited to weapon selection and balance, outdoor environments, multiplayer, vehicles, and a host of other things.

Alternatively, Doom is better than Halo because it's old and two dee rite :V

oh wow thanks for the replies. anyway after thinking about it for awhile, i think i'll just get a ds lite. it's much cheaper than all the consoles, portable, and has a pretty big library of games i want to play.

i had alot more fun with doom when it first came out than halo when it first came out. half life/cs however...

I've been thinking about getting a DS for some time now. I've had my PSP for about a year now, and I still don't have a single game for it. I keep buying PS2 games.

I want a PS3, mainly because it's region free. I'm just going to wait for the price to go down. I'm not going to rush to get it on the first day. It's probably going to have problems like the 360(haha!).
