Which is better though, Okiba Gang or Deep Hours? One gives you +1, but the other gives your opponent -2. Since you probably know more about ninjas then I do, Eight, I was just wondering.

I miss the game, but I have none of my control deck left and don't have the money to start playing again really. :<

Although both are top-notch ninjas, Deep Hours is cheaper to drop into play, and you can ALWAYS use a +1. Later in the game, when your opponent is topdecking, Okiba's ability isn't going to be worth much. It's still worth playing both, though, in a ninja deck.
Again, they're both great, but the pros agree: Deep Hours is an amazing card. Even in a blue non-ninja deck, splashing a couple of those guys when you swing with a random CIP guy will double your pleasure in many good ways.
CIP = Comes-into-play, referring to the triggered abilities. Think Eternal Witness, or Wood Elves, for instance.

Okiba Gang works okay in rat decks, but even they can do better. It's ninjutsu is, what, a converted mana cost four? (it's either 3 or 4... either way it is BAD)
I'm not saying discard is bad, but there is better discard. If I ran Rakdos I'd be a bastard and run Delerium Skeins just because.
...it's too bad the good Ninja Legend is worth like $25 and impossibly hard to find. (Ink Eyes FTW)
Now, who else thinks Swift Silence is the silliest counterspell ever?

Now, who else thinks Swift Silence is the silliest counterspell ever? | It is pretty ridiculous. And not in a broken way. I'm not entirely sure what it's supposed to do... win a counter war, I guess, but you better just pray that it doesn't get countered itself. Plus, it costs a wee bit too much to be worth anything in a counter war.
Then again, WotC seems to enjoy giving blue some pretty weird counters. See also: Time Stop, Spelljack, Last Word, Counterbalance...
Speaking of which, Counterbalance is pretty nuts. Divining Top pretty much rocks the card. Any instant-speed tutor which puts the card on top of the deck becomes a counterspell. I love the card.

So I decided to get 5 $3.00 Fifth Dawn boosters to get like red Tims, which are commons, since the usual places here stop selling commons. So after opening the booster, I didn't get a single red Tim. Just 4 $3 - $8 dollar rares.
All I could say is those better be on 10th Edition. And yeah, I'm trying to make a R/U Tim deck.

Counterbalance is going to be crap when the Top phases out, though. It will still see 1.5 play and EXT play as well, luckily.

All I could say is those better be on 10th Edition. And yeah, I'm trying to make a R/U Tim deck. | Welcome to my life. I STILL don't have four Counterspells. Yes, the card named Counterspell. I have three. I cannot find a fourth.
I bought a FREAKING BOX of Seventh Ed. Boosters. I got ZERO counterspells. And yes, Counterspell was a common in 7th. I DID get 2 Wraths of God, though, and a Birds of Paradise, but I was REALLY hoping for a playset of Counterspells. So far, I've gotten my three from people who happened to have extras. But it's taken years for that.
Why does Counterspell hate me so?
As for Counterbalance... I agree on the Top thing. Unless, of course, Time Spiral gives us something for deck stacking. You never know.

I love the artwork, the names, the mechanics I just love so much about it it's really getting dangerous.
but if I would start again it would probably consume my entire TIME AND MONEY. to me, it's a hard drug, but I can stay away from.
chapter closed with champions pre release.
I'm too stupid for serious competitive play to get back the money I invested. or maybe I just don't have enough practice...but that will only cost more money...deadly spiral thing...
btw: is there a good magic site ( I suppose there are many, seeing how popular the game got with quite hefty price payouts) describing archtypes? I would like to check every once in a while if cool things turned up to be killa (mind over mana ftw!) but I can't find a site describing f.e. solar flare.
Its been mentioned in a few articles but there seems to be no card with that name and I can't find any other information...

No really. Every week, there are a couple articles that go over what's going on in high-level tournaments, and usually decklists are provided. Look back in the archives, and you'll find the Solar Flare-type decks.
As for Solar Flare itself, I'm not entirely sure how it got the name. It drops some beasties like Angel of Despair and whatnot, but to me it feels like a control-ish deck with a little aggro.
In other news...
BATTLE OF WITS WON AN ONLINE STANDARD PREMIER EVENT! Holy crap! I simultaneously wish to see and am frightened by the decklist involved. Because it's not every day a 250 card deck wins tournaments.
I need to boot up Apprentice some time and update the set lists. I may just remove it and re-download it, since I haven't touched it in a couple years.

I'd rather have them on the new frame than on the old ones. Also, the old Gold card frames still don't have the split color thing for dual colors. Hope this reprint idea is only this block.
Yes, these are real. And I don't know if their T2 legal.

too many rules now for me to keep up with plus i could make much money around here anymore on the game. i use to buy boxes and fish out all the foils and sell the common booster pack to kids now there no kids to buy packs and rare foils. i also did the resealing thing for a while but i usually did a good job fishing our rares i never really ended up with regualar rares.
i did make a good profit off of yu-gi-oh, it was a lot easier to fish out packs becouse there were in order of rarety. pokemon i could never make money because the parent wouldnt let me rip off there childern.
but back on the topic of magic that type two and standard type really nerf the value off alot of the older cards. some times i regret spending so much on Mirage when they changed the blocks.
i bet they could make the cards more valuable if they targeted it to the weeaboos. They should start sucking up anime licensing company and making them into MTG cards. pokemons rules didnt work as well as magic because of all the dice stuff and benching, if i want to hit a baby i shouldn't have to flip a coin, i know in real life its so simple.
