When MvC2 is played as "lol hi-lv shit", the fun is over. All I see are "expert players" whoring top-tiers like Magneto, Sentinel, Storm, Ironman and (teh main one) Cable. What's so funny about that?
Anyway, last time I played, I was using a Magneto (he's my favorite Marvel character, I don't give 2 craps if he's broken or not), Sabretooth and Charlie team. What can I do with that team?

This game still has a lot of fans because its still being played at EVO.
My team is Cable, Captain Comando, and Gambit.
Still play it at the arcade and beat it everytime.

The screen wills spin and battle music will start to play. You and drunk friends will be forced to stand in a line rocking back and forth holding over sized swords. A group of retarded looking monsters will appear and you will take turns hitting each other. When it is all over you will get 648 Gil and a fire ring. Why the 12 foot tall monster with no hands had a fire ring that fits everyone from you to your grandma will still be mystery to man.

Just like Kyosuke said. It's a great game when you are playing for fun with ex. family, friends etc. coming over. But once you play with overused top-tiers, such as Magneto, Storm, Sentinel... well. You will get the point.
In general, it's a sweet game to play. Lot's of characters to choose from. Crazy combo's. 'cept the OST is... YUCK... >_>

That and the backgrounds are very generic and boring compared to Marvel Vs. Street Fighter or Marvel Vs. Capcom.
I feel the same way with Capcom Vs. SNK 2 compared to Capcom Vs. SNK 1. The first one had the better BG and music, while the sequel had all the characters...

Cable has :
- easy Air Guardbreak (tourney fighters will know what I jabber about)
- range (gun's and shizzles)
- easy to use specials : Basis-cheesy-poof-combo : 4x "gunshots", Viper Beam, cancel to Hyper Viper Beam, cancel to Scimitar, cancell (in air) Hyper Viper Beam, when on ground jump and again Hyper Viper Beam, land on ground, Hyper Viper Beam * yawn*... did I mentioned Hyper Viper Beam, I did, did I...
I use Jin+Cpt. Commando+Cable-combo for tourney fights & Roll+Jin+Tronne Bonne-combo for "fun" fights.

I don't bother joining competitions, since I've never seriously played it.
In arcades, I use Tron Bonne/SonSon/Doctor Doom + Servbot + Sentinel.
Servbot is to see how many people I can piss off by avoiding all their attacks and chipping them to death with Lunch Rush, and Sentinel just for the high damage. My third character is usually random, but those three I listed are the ones I use most often.

I use Hulk, Hayato, and Wolverine.
I hate playing at arcade because when i'm playing for fun, some asshole always comes and challenges me wth top-tier when I asked him not to since I just want to play solo, yet they do anyways.

My favorite team in MvC2 is Cable, Guile, and Magneto, even though that's basically broken-fest. My fun team is Ryu, Ken, and Akuma, with Dan replacing one of the characters if I feel like it. Finally, my "okay, I'm tired of playing, so ggpo" team is Mega Man, Roll, and Servbot. Good 'ol Servbot. I've never competed in an mvc2 tourney and I don't see myself starting.

The only differences between the dreamcast and PS2/Xbox version are that the Dreamcast has better handleing of sprites and doesn't make them look to blocky. Some sound effects are changed (Selecting a Char and super combo fishish). And the weird loading thing where it'll go really fast when you just beat the 1st form of Abyss when the blocks fall. It'll be fast the Dreamcast/ Arcade version and really slow for the PS2/Xbox version.

Good starting characters are IMO Tron Bonne, Jin, Cable (sighs...), MegaMan, Shotokens : Ryu, Ken, Dan & Akuma. With these characters you've got average defence and health. Esp. if you are used to play Street Fighter or (just like beginners do) button-bashing.
Hard to learn characters are IMO Iceman, Magneto, Ironman/Warmachine, Storm, Sentinel and the other Heavy Class characters (Hulk, Juggernaut...) At first glance you will be like... " WTF?! 6 hit combo and less damage dealt?!". Keep your pace up and learn some (extended) combo's from faqs and video's such as YouTube, Video Google etc. The above characters are specialized in this. Not only will it look cool when battling other people, but you will net an easy win when you get your opponent offguard. It took me a very long time to get familiar with Magneto & Storm. Not the moves, but the hard to pull ground/aerial combo's. After mastering them, I was like : " No wonder these guys are high on the top-tier list..." Quote: |

That and the backgrounds are very generic and boring compared to Marvel Vs. Street Fighter or Marvel Vs. Capcom. | I have to agree half of your statement, though it's your oppinion and I can't change that. I dunno why CapCom approved such crappy OST. It really, REALLY doesn't fit in this genre. It's like playing Super Mario with Barbara Streisand screaming on the background. " I gonna take you for a ride"-etc. Seriously, whatsup with that?!
Guilty Gear is a good example of how a OST should be in a fighting game. Either that or the return of the characters theme song (ex. Ryu vs Morigan in a Dark Stalker stage in MvsC. Ryu beats Morigan, Ken jumps in. Ken's theme song starts).
Seriously. Jazz songs in a fighting game, that ain't right, LoL! Good thing I didn't sold my faithfull DreamCast, 'cause I got myself a home made h4xed OST copy of MvsC2 with my selection of songs (Linkin Park - Breaking the Habit really fire ups the match!) Quote: |
Originally Posted by Paranoivm I still think the Dreamcast version was the best one for me. | I couldn't agree more. Have any of you noticed the effects on the XBox or PS2 version? It's like Juggernaut hitting Ryu with a cushion, compared to the DreamCast version. Quote: |

Scenario : Me, MegaMall, Arcade, MvsC2, almost near the end of stage, scrub throws in a token without asking me first, scrub loses, scrub walks away.
Most of the time they can't take their defeat in front of their girlfriends and starts throwing tokens in the machine...

The Dreamcast version was arcade perfect, the PS2 version was far from it.
And whoever was complaining about someone playing them and using top-tier while they're having fun, that's the way an arcade works broseph. If you're playing, and someone steps up, you can't tell them not to play and expect them to listen.
I kinda play this game, I know how and am pretty decent, I just don't enjoy it. I play usually Psylocke/Magneto/Cable/Sentinel/Blackheart, because I was taught how to play this game by top-tier players and some of the best in the Midwest, so that's the characters they taught me.
