In addition, when discussing the classic 2D fighting games using Marvel characters, Gamasutra asked if there was a possibility of them (Marvel Superheroes and Marvel Vs. Capcom, among others) appearing on Xbox Live Arcade or other console digital download services - to which Lambros replied:
"Yeah, those are among my all time favorites. I’m a huge 2D fighting fan... the Marvel Vs. Capcom stuff has a definite close place in my heart, so we definitely wanna see that stuff live on."
However, it appears that Marvel does not yet have any concrete deals in place to re-issue classic Marvel-licensed titles on such services - though they may now be considering it.
| This could lead to something big. Maybe even Marvel vs Capcom 3 but thats probably way to far.

The screen wills spin and battle music will start to play. You and drunk friends will be forced to stand in a line rocking back and forth holding over sized swords. A group of retarded looking monsters will appear and you will take turns hitting each other. When it is all over you will get 648 Gil and a fire ring. Why the 12 foot tall monster with no hands had a fire ring that fits everyone from you to your grandma will still be mystery to man.

Inafune and the like have been VERY cautious of what Capcom puts out, and are trying to build up profits for them again (Which is working out fairly well from what I've heard)
Then comes in Microsoft, who will have to make another special case for this. I doubt the game is smaller than 100 MB, and XBLA has a "rule" about keeping them under 50 MB, no matter how much compression they put on the audio/images.
It is, logistically, going to be a nightmare, but if they can pull it off, more power to them.

The thing is they would be getting "classic licenses" as they talked about so this really is just about Capcom wanting to do it.

SF2 is pretty tough to play with anyone more than a few states away, though you can adjust to it if you practice. Playing Guilty Gear online through Live is pretty ugly. MvC would be impossible, though. A ping of more than a few milliseconds would essentially fuck the whole game, and while it would be nice not to have to pay out the ass to get a copy of MvC2 it would only be worthwhile for local play.

Unless Xbox Live works radically different, I don't see even a low ping could screw it up.

Try playing SF2'/Anniversary Collection with someone more than a couple hundred miles away via XBL and you'll notice a problem--this stems from the way the games are ported, not Live itself. If they changed the way the emulator/netcode work, then maybe it'll be great, but if their past online games are anything to go by then this could be pretty ugly.
